***Fully Remote Position with extensive domestic field-based travel***
Our client is seeking Protection & Control (P&C) Field Testing and Commissioning Engineers at multiple experience levels to support high-voltage substation projects across transmission distribution and generation environments. This is a highly hands-on travel-intensive field role focused on testing commissioning troubleshooting and documenting mission-critical protection systems.

Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success performing field testing and commissioning of protection relay systems on high-voltage substations and is comfortable working in a heavy-travel role supporting critical infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
Perform field testing and commissioning of Protection & Control systems on high-voltage substations
Conduct protective relay testing using industry-standard equipment (Omicron CMC 256/356 Doble F6150)
Test and commission relays including SEL-311L SEL-387 SEL-487 SEL-421 SEL-351S GE L90 GE D60 and similar
Execute control scheme testing CT/PT circuit verification relay calibration and static/dynamic testing
Support Project Leads and Field Supervisors on active substation projects
Complete Job Hazard Analyses (JHA) and strictly follow all safety procedures
Interpret electrical drawings schematics and logic diagrams
Accurately document test results and generate formal field reports
Manage project-related administrative tasks including timecards expense reports and documentation
Requirements
Required Qualifications
(Level determined by depth of experience)
Minimum 5 years of substation field testing experience in the U.S.
Hands-on experience with protective relays breakers transformers instrument transformers and P&C systems
Proficiency with SEL GE Basler and Beckwith relay platforms
Experience using Omicron or Doble relay test sets
Working knowledge of NETA IEEE NFPA and related industry standards
Experience across voltage classes ranging from 15 kV to 500 kV
Strong troubleshooting analytical and documentation skills
Experience with test software such as:
Omicron Test Universe
AcSELerator QuickSet
ProTesT
Protection Suite
ENOSERV RTS
Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook Word Excel and PowerPoint
Ability to read redline and manage electrical drawings
Must meet motor vehicle insurability requirements
Must pass drug/alcohol screening and a seven-year background check
Physically able to stand for long periods and lift 50 lbs
Willing and able to travel extensively (up to 80%)
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Technology
Experience with electromechanical relay testing and troubleshooting
Commissioning experience with:
IEC 61850 testing and commissioning experience
