Job Summary

Primary responsibilities of the position are to engage in the preparation and implementation of the fuels treatment prescribes fire and wild land fire monitoring processes. Work involves activities related to fuels data management and analysis fuels inventory and monitoring layout of treatment units and fire suppression and working as part of a seasonal crew performing fieldwork. This class of work is characterized by the varied nature of assignments and the requirement to apply existing or new fuels/fire management methods and techniques. Utilizes computer software such as Word Excel Fuel Character Classification System (FCCS) Firemon/FFI FVS and IFTDSS to analyze manage date collection and prepare reports. Participates in prescribes fire and wildfire suppression.

Requirements

  • Must maintain a valid state drivers license and be insurable.
  • Must pass an arduous pack test annually (45 lbs. for 3 miles under 45 min.)
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Qualified as or become qualified as a Firefighter Type 2 and take S-290 within 18 months of hire date.
  • Must pass a fire physical for arduous position and must take the annual refresher firefighter training class.
  • Must be qualified as a Fire Effects Monitor (FEMO) or qualify within 2 years of hire date or qualify within 2 years of taking S-290 if not previously qualified as a Firefighter Type 2.
  • Submit and pass a criminal background check with Federal Tribal and State Law Enforcement and pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
