WHAT YOULL BE DOING
Performs detailed dimensional inspections (layout/FAI as required) of incoming and in-process components to ensure compliance with prints specifications and GD&T requirements. Uses calibrated precision measurement tools (e.g. micrometers calipers height gage pin gages CMM/optical as applicable) records objective evidence issues NCRs/MRB holds for nonconforming product and escalates out-of-tolerance findings immediately to contain risk and prevent escapes.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM
To perform this job successfully the applicable candidate must be a team player and able to make decisions under pressure with a cross functional team of individuals. The additional requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability required.
- Minimum of five (5) years experience in manufacturing in a quality role.
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Effective English verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated proficiency reading blueprints and applying GD&T (datums position profile runout flatness perpendicularity etc.).
- Strong working knowledge of precision measurement tools and methods; comfortable working with tight tolerances.
- Working knowledge of calibration and measurement traceability; ability to verify gage condition and suitability.
- Ability to document inspection results clearly and use computers for data entry (ERP/MES/Excel/Outlook).
- Experience running and/or programming CMMs (e.g. PC-DMIS Calypso MCOSMOS or equivalent).
- Experience with MSA / Gage R&R SPC basics and inspection planning (sampling plans control plans).
- ASQ certifications (CQI/CQT) or equivalent technical/metrology training.
- Experience in hand tool torque or precision mechanical assembly environments.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 requirements related to inspection nonconformance control and record retention.
- Strong collaboration skills in a team environment.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation and recordkeeping.
- Ability to work under pressure and within tight time constraints.
- Excellent ability to read blueprints.
- Ability to use Quality Tools and Methods such as torque measuring and calibration equipment.
- Experience working within a steel manufacturing environment is an asset.
- Two (2) years experience with the set-up and use of tight tolerance and high-tech gauging preferred.
- Well versed with computer data entry skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office suite products Word and Outlook. Mastery of Excel.
- Strong problem-solving skills (quick creative and proactive) and ability to make decisions on conformity.
- Solid math skills (fractions/decimals basic trigonometry a plus) and strong attention to detail.
- Must be able to comply with Personal Protective Equipment.
- Must comply with Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and all safety and environmental rules regulations and practices.
