Job Summary

Warehouse Support Technicians in our McIntosh Plant work with the Finishing and Packaging Technicians to help support the operation basic maintenance and troubleshooting of a highly automated state of the art packaging systems that produces sucralose (Splenda).

Employees may be assigned to perform any task in the Plant which they can perform safely.

  • Responsible for reporting all incidents defects and hazards

  • Carrying out their work in a manner which does not present a risk to themselves others and the environment
  • Reporting all incidents defects hazards and inadequacies of procedures so that appropriate review and corrective action can be taken
  • Suggesting improvements and being active in the general improvement of all systems and methods of work to ensure EHS Supports activities and services are carried out in a safe environmentally responsible reliable and cost effective manner

Main Accountabilities

Warehouse Support Requirements

To be proficient an employee must:

  • Know all safety programs procedures and expectations: PPE MSDS GMP guarding powered equipment safety auditing location of safety equipment etc.
  • Display basic computer skills: Windows E-mail SAP time entry etc.
  • Know process procedure and basic equipment operation for: Packaging equipment warehousing shipping etc.
  • Know basic SMPs for area specific processes and equipment.
  • Be fully capable of safely doing all field related activities.

Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to safely perform the following tasks:

  • Lifting of up to 55 pounds without mechanical assistance.
  • Use of hand tools above shoulders under ergonomically stressful conditions and under application of heavy force by employee.
  • Must be able to work in hot and cold temperatures climb stairs climb ladders and perform other physical duties.
  • Ability to work a rotating shift schedule in a 365/24/7 operation with the flexibility to work alternate schedules as needed.

Food Safety

  • Carry out responsibilities/duties according to food safety legal and quality requirements to ensure that our products are fit for human consumption.

Environment

  • Comply with all environmental standards procedures and work instructions at all times.
  • Report any environmental violations or near misses in order to prevent any impact upon the local environment its inhabitants and Tate & Lyle.

Health & Safety

  • Adhere to the safety policies procedures and site rules.
  • Fully participate in the safety program including reporting any incidents or near misses and auditing.

Performance measures

Warehouse Support

This is a non-progression role. Team members in this role are excluded from bidding on openings in other departments (Chemical Operations Laboratory I/E Mechanical). They may only bid to open Finishing & Packaging roles provided they meet the qualifications for the role. However seniority alone will not be the determining factor in selection for open Finishing & Packaging roles. The Company is not required to fill open Finishing & Packaging roles from its Warehouse Support team members.
