Education | High School Diploma or GED and/or 30 semester hours of an accredited college or university Educational Aide Certificate from state of Texas |
Experience | Have satisfied one of the following requirements: Have three creditable years of experience as defined in Chapter 153 Subchapter CC of this title (relating to Commissioners Rules of Creditable Years of Service) as either an educational aide I or II; or b. have completed 30 semester credit hours of college credit with some emphasis on child growth and development or related subject areas Have experience working with students and parents as approved by the employing superintendent |

POSITION FUNCTION/PURPOSE To assist the classroom teacher in the care and instruction of the students in the classroom. |

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 1. Follow the directions of the supervisor 2. Preparing materials and displays as directed 3. Demonstrating acceptable written and verbal skills 4. Working in a cooperative manner with both teacher and students 5. Assisting the teacher in maintaining student discipline 6. Assisting the teacher in assuming responsibility for the care and safety of students 7. Assisting the teacher in assuming responsibility for the care of equipment and teaching materials 8. Changing diapers for students 9. Toileting students 10. Feeding or assisting with feeding students 11. Assisting with lifting students 12. Assisting students with other self-help skills 13. Blending foods 14. Cooking foods 15. Assisting with loading and unloading students 16. All other duties as assigned by the supervisor |
