Position Overview
Our organization is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to take full ownership of payroll operations for our Ponca City facility. This is a critical role ensuring that our workforce is paid accurately and on time while maintaining high standards of compliance with labor contracts and government regulations.
As a primary point of contact for payroll-related inquiries you will not only manage the data but also serve as an educator training management and staff on payroll processes and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- End-to-End Payroll Ownership: Gather and audit timekeeping data for accuracy. Process weekly payroll transfers via Paylocity handle manual checks and secure necessary approvals from upper management.
- Contractor & Staffing Coordination: Manage timekeeping for contracted associates ensuring accurate reporting to Accounting and timely generation of AP check requests for staffing agencies.
- Deductions & Compliance: Compile and maintain payroll data including garnishments 401(k) deductions insurance and labor allocations.
- Union & Labor Relations: Adhere to labor contract terms process union dues and monitor salary adjustments/increases based on union review dates.
- Unemployment Administration: Process Unemployment Notices of Entitlement file appeals and organize all necessary documentation for hearings and audits.
- Employee Relations: Act as a resource for employees and management regarding HR policies labor laws and government regulations.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of hands-on payroll experience.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office Suite and experience with Paylocity (preferred).
- Specialized Knowledge: Prior experience with Union payroll and labor contract administration is highly valued.
- Soft Skills: Extreme attention to detail strong communication skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- Office Environment: Ability to sit stand and walk throughout the day. Occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs for filing.
- Facility Access: Periodic presence in manufacturing areas may be required necessitating the use of PPE (safety glasses and hearing protection).
