Woodridge Elementary pre-K3-4th grade students follow an International Baccalaureate program that uses observation questioning and creative scenarios to build the skills and character traits necessary for lifelong learning. With an emphasis on Spanish language study students explore core subject areas such as reading and mathematics with an emphasis on expression and relating to others.
Woodridge Middle students in grades 6-8 develop a deeper understanding of core content with a focus on critical analysis and college exposure. All students follow a rigorous and culturally diverse curriculum in eight areas: English and language arts foreign language (Spanish) mathematics science social studies humanities art and technology. Advanced Placement skills are embedded in prerequisite courses to ensure readiness for Friendships college-preparatory high schools.
One of the few D.C. campuses with an in-house library Woodridge incorporates classic and contemporary books art and music as part of the daily school experience. We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable ELA Interventionist to join our educational team. The ELA Interventionist will be responsible for providing targeted ELA instruction to K-8 students who require additional support to meet grade-level expectations. This role involves collaborating with teachers administrators and parents to develop and implement intervention strategies that promote student success in ELA.

Responsibilities
- Provide individual and small group ELA instruction to students identified as needing intervention.
- Develop and implement effective ELA intervention plans tailored to the specific needs of each student.
- Use data-driven assessment tools to monitor student progress and adjust instruction as necessary.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate intervention strategies into the regular classroom setting.
- Assist in the development and implementation of ELA curriculum and instructional materials that support diverse learning styles and abilities.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate regularly with teachers parents and administrators.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in ELA instruction and intervention.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student engagement and achievement.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Education ELA or a related field preferred.
- Valid teaching certification/license for the appropriate grade levels.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience teaching ELA preferably in a K-8 setting.
- Strong knowledge of ELA intervention strategies and best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers administrators and parents.
- Proficiency in using technology and educational software to enhance ELA instruction.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and varying abilities.
- Training or certification in ELA intervention programs or strategies.
- Bilingual abilities are a plus.
