MDMS is recruiting Midday Meal Supervisors for primary schools across West Lindsey. The role of a Midday Meal Supervisor is hands-on varied and rewarding. You will work closely with school staff to ensure that lunchtimes are smooth structured and enjoyable. Key responsibilities include:
Supervision of Pupils Ensuring safety in dining areas corridors classrooms and playgrounds. You will monitor pupils during meals guiding behaviour and supporting safe movement around the school.
Supporting Mealtimes Helping children especially younger or vulnerable pupils during lunchtime. This could include helping with trays encouraging table manners or assisting children who may feel overwhelmed by the busy environment.
Encouraging Positive Behaviour Promoting good manners polite behaviour and respect for peers and staff. You will model kindness and fairness helping children navigate social interactions.
Managing Outdoor and Indoor Play Supervising outdoor play during good weather and indoor activities during wet or cold conditions. Encouraging games inclusive participation and safe use of equipment is essential.
Resolving Minor Conflicts Children will occasionally disagree or have minor disputes. Your role is to de-escalate these situations calmly fairly and consistently.
Providing Emotional Support Some children may feel anxious upset or lonely. Offering reassurance empathy and a listening ear helps them feel secure and included.
Health and Safety Awareness Ensuring awareness of pupils allergies dietary needs and medical conditions. Reporting any incidents accidents or safeguarding concerns promptly to school staff.
Basic First Aid Administering basic first aid when necessary (training is provided) to respond to minor injuries quickly and appropriately.
Collaboration Working as part of a team with teachers teaching assistants and other lunchtime staff to maintain a smooth-running lunchtime routine.
Routine and Structure Helping maintain school routines and transitions between lunch play and afternoon lessons. Your consistent approach ensures pupils know what is expected and feel secure.
