We are seeking an experienced compassionate and highly skilled ARP (Additionally Resourced Provision) Base Teacher to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Wandsworth starting as soon as possible. This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about inclusive education and has experience supporting pupils with complex special educational needs within a mainstream setting.
The school has a well-established ARP provision that supports pupils with a range of needs including ASD speech and language difficulties and social emotional and communication needs. The ARP is well-resourced and staffed by a committed team who work collaboratively to provide a structured nurturing and highly personalised learning environment. Senior leadership is supportive and places strong emphasis on staff wellbeing training and professional development.
As an ARP Base Teacher you will be responsible for planning delivering and assessing tailored learning programmes for pupils within the provision. You will work closely with teaching assistants the SENCo class teachers parents and external professionals to ensure pupils receive consistent high-quality support. You will play a key role in supporting pupils academic progress emotional regulation and social development.
Key Responsibilities
Plan deliver and assess personalised learning programmes within the ARP
Create and review Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and EHCP targets
Deliver structured one-to-one and small-group teaching sessions
Support pupils communication social interaction and emotional regulation
Promote independence confidence and positive behaviour
Maintain a calm structured and inclusive learning environment
Track pupil progress and maintain accurate assessment and behaviour records
Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and the SENCo
Liaise with parents carers and external professionals
Support pupils inclusion into mainstream classes where appropriate
Contribute to staff meetings CPD and whole-school inclusion initiatives
Ensure safeguarding and child protection procedures are followed
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will:
Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Have experience teaching pupils with SEND ideally within an ARP or specialist setting
Demonstrate strong knowledge of ASD and inclusive teaching strategies
Be calm patient and resilient
Have excellent classroom management and organisational skills
Be reflective proactive and collaborative
Show a strong commitment to inclusion safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
