Year 2 Teacher – Portsmouth

We are seeking an enthusiastic experienced and dedicated Year 2 Teacher to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Portsmouth starting as soon as possible. This is a fantastic opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about Key Stage 1 and committed to delivering engaging lessons that inspire pupils and support their academic and personal development.

The Role

As a Year 2 Teacher you will plan deliver and assess lessons across the Key Stage 1 curriculum. You will foster independence resilience and positive learning behaviours helping pupils transition confidently from EYFS. You will differentiate learning to meet the diverse needs of all pupils provide interventions where needed and create a nurturing structured classroom environment that encourages curiosity and engagement.

Collaboration with teaching assistants colleagues and parents is central to the role ensuring pupils receive consistent support both academically and socially.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan deliver and assess engaging lessons across the Year 2 curriculum

• Deliver high-quality literacy numeracy and foundation subject teaching

• Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all pupils including SEND and EAL

• Promote independence resilience and positive behaviour

• Maintain a structured inclusive and stimulating classroom environment

• Track pupil progress and maintain accurate assessment records

• Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and colleagues

• Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding pupil progress

• Contribute to staff meetings CPD sessions and whole-school initiatives

• Support enrichment activities school events and extra-curricular opportunities

• Ensure safeguarding and child protection procedures are strictly followed

Who Were Looking For

The ideal candidate will:

• Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

• Have experience teaching Key Stage 1 ideally Year 2

• Demonstrate excellent classroom management and organisational skills

• Be reflective proactive and adaptable

• Show a strong commitment to inclusion safeguarding and pupil wellbeing

• Work collaboratively as part of a professional supportive team
