Job Summary

Job Title: Phlebotomy Technician

Location: Soldier Readiness Processing Center (SRP) William Beaumont Army Medical Center (WBAMC) 18511 Highlander Medics St Fort Bliss TX 79906 and outlying clinics.

Tentative Start Date: 1 April 2026

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 0500-1630 (SRP operational hours). Up to 48 mission-driven overage hours per FTE may be required annually beyond regularly scheduled duty hours as authorized by the Government.

Qualifications:

Education: High school equivalent and completion of NAACLS or two-part Phlebotomy program; Graduate from an academic course of phlebotomy that includes didactic & hands-on phlebotomy (or required by state law).
Experience:

Minimum of one (1) year of recent experience within the last two (2) years performing phlebotomy or specimen collection in a clinical laboratory hospital or medical treatment facility setting.
Experience collecting venous and capillary blood specimens from adult patients using standard phlebotomy techniques.
Experience labeling handling and preparing specimens for laboratory testing in accordance with established procedures.

License / Certification:
- State-required phlebotomy certification/registration or national phlebotomy certification through ASCP or AMT.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA or Red Cross) required.
Other Requirements: U.S. Citizenship required.

Responsibilities:

Support Soldier Readiness Processing (SRP) laboratory operations by performing blood draws and specimen collection for service members undergoing mobilization demobilization redeployment and separation.
Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection using approved techniques to obtain specimens required for readiness and clinical evaluations.
Properly label process and prepare specimens for transport to the laboratory in accordance with established protocols.
Verify patient identification and ensure specimens are accurately matched to laboratory orders.
Maintain phlebotomy supplies collection equipment and work areas to support continuous SRP operations.
Monitor service members during and after blood draws and report adverse reactions or complications to clinical staff.
Coordinate specimen flow to support required SRP processing timelines and patient throughput.
Document specimen collection activities and assigned tasks in MHS GENESIS or other Government-designated systems as directed.

Support surge laboratory operations during peak MOB/DEMOB cycles including extended duty hours when mission required.
