Role Summary
The Audio Production Specialist is responsible for conceiving scripting producing and narrating audio segments and programs. The role ensures that audio content aligns with NSF communications goals engages target audiences and adheres to professional production standards.
Primary Responsibilities
- Conceive develop and produce audio segments programs and series across multiple scales and formats.
- Write and edit scripts in a variety of styles tailored to specific audio projects.
- Translate complex scientific and technical topics into clear compelling audio for diverse audiences.
- Narrate audio and video productions adapting tone and style to audience and format.
- Conduct interviews reporting and research to support audio content development.
- Edit and mix audio segments including interviews narration and sound effects.
- Ensure all audio productions meet professional broadcast and accessibility standards.
- Collaborate with multimedia and communications teams to integrate audio content into broader campaigns.
- Provide on-air hosting or voiceover services as required.
Minimum Qualifications
- 5 years of professional audio production experience.
- Proven experience producing podcasts radio programs or similar audio content.
- Scriptwriting and narration experience for professional audio productions.
- On-air experience with live or recorded broadcasts.
- Experience conducting interviews and reporting for audio projects.
- Proficiency in audio editing and post-production tools.
- Background in broadcast journalism media production or related field.
- Experience editing interviews and integrating content into polished audio segments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience producing science research or technical audio content.
- Familiarity with accessibility standards for audio content including captions or transcripts.
- Ability to work in both studio and field production environments.
- Experience collaborating with multimedia teams on multi-platform content delivery.
