Job Summary

Job Title: Rad Tech
Location: Portales NM

Job Description:
The Radiology Technician provides patient-centered care in a radiology environment that prioritizes safety and minimizes medical and healthcare errors. This role ensures compliance with patient care quality standards for patients of all ages from neonates to geriatric populations.

Essential Functions:

Promote the mission vision and values of the organization.
Identify patient service needs by establishing rapport with patients and healthcare team members.
Operate radiology equipment including preventive maintenance troubleshooting and coordinating repairs.
Maintain radiology supply inventory and ensure adequate stock levels.
Comply with federal state and local regulations and professional standards.
Maintain professional and technical knowledge through continuing education and professional involvement.
Maintain a safe clean and compliant work environment.
Reduce patient anxiety by explaining procedures and addressing questions.
Prepare and position patients for radiologic procedures using appropriate immobilization and positioning techniques.
Adjust equipment controls and exposure factors to obtain optimal images.
Minimize radiation exposure to patients and staff through proper radiation safety techniques and shielding.
Adhere to infection control policies and emergency protocols including contrast reaction procedures.
Produce high-quality diagnostic images in accordance with established standards.
Document patient care and imaging services accurately in patient and departmental records.
Contribute to team goals and support departmental operations.

Professional Requirements:

Maintain professional appearance and adhere to dress code.
Complete required annual education and training.
Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
Report to work on time and as scheduled.
Wear required identification while on duty.
Comply with all applicable state federal and local regulations.
Represent the organization in a professional and ethical manner.
Participate in performance improvement and continuous quality initiatives.
Attend staff meetings and in-service training.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent.
Completion of an accredited radiology program (degree or certificate).
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or obtain within 30 days of hire).
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of radiologic technology and imaging procedures.
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
Ability to make sound decisions in complex situations.
Ability to work independently with attention to detail and a positive attitude.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
Ability to manage challenging patient and clinical situations professionally.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

Ability to work irregular hours including on-call shifts.
Physically demanding high-stress healthcare environment.
Exposure to blood body fluids communicable diseases chemicals radiation and repetitive motions.
Ability to push pull lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Full range of body motion including lifting and positioning patients.
Frequent reaching bending stooping handling objects speaking hearing and visual acuity.
