Job Summary
Design of traffic signals and illumination for various clients
Preparation of lighting and traffic signal layouts
Preparation of wiring diagrams and electrical details
Photometric analysis of lighting systems
Voltage drop calculations
Preparation of contract documents and specifications
Site visits and contract administration
Qualifications :
Minimum Requirements:
Undergraduate degree or Technologist diploma in Electrical Engineering
5 years of relevant work experience in construction design-consulting
Preferred Qualifications:
5 years relevant experience in traffic signal and streetlighting design ideally in a design-consulting or utility environment
Knowledge of various municipal and MTO lighting and traffic signal design standards
Working knowledge of Ontario Traffic Manuals (Book 12 12A 15 5 6 & 7) Lighting Standards (IESNA RP-8) Ontario Electrical Safety Code (OESC) Highway Traffic Act (HTA) Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices Canada (MUTCDC) and Technical Manuals published by the Transportation Association of Canada
Must be proficient with computer aided design software such as Microstation and AutoCAD
Must be proficient with light calculation software such as AGI32 or Autolux
Experience with 22/04 certification and liaising with utility authorities
Experience with pole loading software i.e. SPIDAcalc or equivalent is an asset
Experience performing electrical site inspections construction supervision and contract administration
