The Manager Safety Projects is responsible for the delivery of safety operational people and regulatory requirements relating to Safety Projects such as the start-up and transition of business for Western Sydney Airport International Operations. This role will encompass the safety design start up and transition of requirements for the Qantas Freight Operation at Western Sydney Airport. The role is responsible for developing the Strategy and leading all enablement activity including prioritisation and operationalisation across the business.
The Manager Safety Projects will be accountable for the implementation of critical and effective strategic safety programs to meet regulatory requirements and operational needs. This includes leading and oversight of project planning governance risk management delivery and reporting of projects ensuring it is delivered on time.
The role will be responsible for translating requirements and influencing outcomes across abroad and complex stakeholder mix into a well-defined scope of work and establishing and supporting the broader project team including engagement with Qantas Airlines and Freight Safety Team. The role will oversee all project management methodologies and deliverables to ensure program objectives operational safety improvements are achieved in collaboration with Assurance Risk Compliance and Auditing teams. The Manager Safety Projects will be responsible for ensuring the provision of reporting to project committees safety committees and other governance forums. The position will develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders within the Group as well as key external stakeholders such as suppliers where applicable.
Youll have
- 6 - 8 years experience in safety management and project delivery.
Tertiary Qualification- Minimum Diploma in WHS - Extensive safety experience.
- Strong project management experience within a large organisation (desirable).
- Ability to manage safety and operational projects which involve multiple and diverse areas within Qantas.
- Ability to translate business ideas and strategies into detailed approaches and plans.
- Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to interact with staff and customers at all levels.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and foster networking between various areas and departments.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Self-motivated committed and dedicated to Company objectives.
- Strong commitment to business improvement and ability to drive change and make things happen.
- Flexible to change priorities in allocated work to meet all project deadlines.
- Ability to manage and prioritise conflicting and diverse business objectives.
- Ability to navigate through ambiguity with a pragmatic approach.
- Understanding of financial and operational issues risk assessment computerised information systems.
- Advanced PC skills especially in the use of Microsoft Excel PowerPoint Power BI and project management tools.
