Enterprise Architecture is an organization at American Express and it is a key enabler of the companys technology strategy. The four pillars of Enterprise Architecture include:

  • Architecture as Code:this pillar owns and operates foundational technologies that are leveraged by engineering teams across the enterprise.

Leads American Express Outbound Open Banking and Open Finance capabilities across international markets with primary accountability for the platform and governance model through which American Express acts as a Data Provider. This role is responsible for ensuring compliant secure and scalable access to American Express cardmember data via APIs enabling third-party connectivity in line with regulatory and business requirements.

The role owns the delivery and ongoing oversight of Outbound Open Banking capabilities mandated under regulatory frameworks such as PSD2 in Europe and Consumer Data Right in Australia while also supporting non-regulatory international markets and future regulatory market expansion. It provides leadership on governance regulatory compliance audit readiness and change management ensuring that platform operations controls and reporting meet both external regulatory obligations and internal risk standards.

Working closely with Product Technology Legal Compliance Risk and regional market teams this role supports local business-led partnerships that integrate with the American Express Open Banking APIs providing subject matter expertise and governance oversight throughout the lifecycle.

How will you make an impact in this role

  • Owns the strategy delivery and governance of the Outbound Open Banking / Open Finance platform across International markets ensuring American Express meets its obligations as a regulated Data Provider
  • Leads regulatory delivery for Outbound Open Banking under frameworks such as PSD2/3 in Europe and CDR in Australia while enabling consistent scalable capabilities across both regulatory and non-regulatory International markets
  • Defines and implements end-to-end governance processes and controls for the Open Banking platform ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements internal policies and enterprise risk standards
  • Ensures audit readiness across the Open Banking platform including preparation for internal audits external regulatory reviews and ongoing assurance activities
  • Owns regulatory reporting processes related to Outbound Open Banking ensuring accurate timely and consistent reporting across applicable International markets
  • Leads regulatory change management monitoring evolving Open Banking and Open Finance requirements globally and translating regulatory change into platform policy and process updates
  • Provides governance oversight and subject matter support to regional business teams leading direct third-party partnerships that connect to American Express Open Banking APIs ensuring alignment with regulatory security and platform standards
  • Oversees third-party and vendor management processes for Open Banking connectivity including onboarding due diligence ongoing monitoring and issue resolution in partnership with Legal Compliance Risk and Technology teams
  • Partners with Product and Technology teams to prioritise platform enhancements address regulatory or operational risks and support the ongoing resilience and scalability of the Outbound Open Banking platform
  • Builds strong relationships with regional and global stakeholders influencing outcomes and ensuring consistent execution of Open Banking strategy and governance across International markets
  • Prepares and presents materials for governance forums senior leadership reviews and regulatory discussions as required
