Job Duties
The responsibilities for this position include supervising and administering the day-to-day operations of the Office of Civil Rights (OCR). OCR enforces the Virginia Human Rights Act (VHRA) the Virginia Fair Housing Law (VFHL) the Virginia Rights of Voters Act (VRVA) and the Virginia Public Integrity and Law Enforcement Misconduct Act (PILEM). The successful candidate will have excellent writing skills and be prepared to litigate complex civil litigation in the appropriate state court in actions filed under the laws enforced by OCR. Duties include advising the Virginia Fair Housing and Real Estate Boards. Duties also include providing advice and assistance to the Attorney General on various matters related to civil rights. This position reports directly to the Deputy Attorney General for the Public Advocacy Division.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must have the demonstrated ability to analyze and manage complex cases and to lead a professional team of attorneys in complex legal disciplines.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of ten (10) years of relevant litigation experience with a background in civil rights.
Excellent leadership interpersonal and communication skills are required.
Must be admitted to the Virginia State Bar.
