Department website: website: Ferraride de Andrade Laboratory is seeking highly motivated postdocs to lead the B7-H6 immunology abnormal self refers to the ability of natural killer (NK) cells to recognize and kill virus infected or malignant cells. However the self-induced antigens can be shed from the cell surface to enable immune escape. We therefore generated novel antibodies that inhibit the shedding in a highly specific manner to promote NK cell-driven immune surveillance. To enable in vivostudies we also generated a novel mouse strain that recapitulates key features of a human immune mechanism against the abnormal self. This project will test the hypothesis that antibody-mediated inhibition of self-induced antigens promotes NK cell-driven tumor immunity in vitroand in vivoand help shapes immune compartments.
Goals/Outcomes of the Research Project: The research project will generate new mechanistic insights into leukocyte biology and cancer immunology and it will help develop novel immunotherapies for solid and hematological cancers.
Qualifications
Technical Duties: The postdoctoral researcher will be responsible for leading the research project as well as collaborating with colleagues. Specific technical duties include but are not restricted to: tissue culture leukocyte isolation from human blood samples flow cytometry qPCR maintaining of mouse colony mouse genotyping in vivoexperimentation ELISA and statistical analyses. Furthermore the postdoctoral fellow will be required to present laboratory meetings and institution-level seminars and write research articles and fellowships. Finally the postdoctoral fellow will help maintain the laboratory operations through equipment maintenance re-suppling and inventorying whenever needed.
Qualifications:
- PhD MD or MD/PhD
This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement between the ISMMS and the Sinai Postdoctoral Organizing Committee - UAW.
