Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior Payments Controls Officer to strengthen payments operations within a regulated financial services environment with a focus on operational controls reconciliations risk monitoring and continuous process improvement.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain operational control procedures in line with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
Perform daily controls and ad-hoc checks across payments operations to identify errors inefficiencies and operational risks.
Support day-to-day payments activities including pay-ins pay-outs and related accounting postings.
Assist with funding requirements and coordination of treasury movements linked to payments.
Oversee settlement and fee reconciliations with third-party payment service providers.
Drive process improvements to enhance efficiency automation and control effectiveness.
Monitor payments performance using KPIs and operational data.
Track third-party provider performance including uptime decline rates and abandonment rates.
Execute post-release regression testing to ensure system stability.
Monitor chargeback activity and fraud-related trends.
Support internal audits operational reviews and maintenance of procedural documentation.
Prepare operational reports and updates for management.

Requirements:

Degree in Banking Finance Business or a related field.
Minimum 5 years experience in payments banking or financial services operations.
Mandatory experience within the Maltese financial services sector (bank EMI PSP or regulated institution).
Strong understanding of payments operations reconciliations and operational controls.
Strong organisational analytical and problem-solving skills.
High attention to detail and ability to work independently.
Excellent communication and time management skills.
