About the role

As part of the WA Real-Time Market Monitoring team you will contribute to the successful operation and ongoing evolution of WAs Wholesale Electricity Market (WEM) and South West Interconnected System (SWIS). You will receive broad exposure to how the electricity system and market works in the process gaining a deeper understanding of its intricacies and complexities. You will have the opportunity to develop and excel rapidly in a friendly and diverse team who are driven to succeed.

This role is based in Perth on a permanent basis.

What you will be doing

  • Responsible for the operation of the WEM Dispatch Engine and Real-Time Market Submissions system including stakeholder support to Market Participants.
  • Produce reports and insights on market outcomes for internal and external stakeholders undertaking complex quantitative and qualitative analysis of market and dispatch data to inform decision making drive market enhancement and improve transparency.
  • Identify manage and resolve real-time and long-term issues that impact efficient and effective operations.
  • Working closely with the IT support teams identify define and test improvements and fixes to several bespoke IT systems.
  • Provide reliable and quality support to the market 24/7. This is managed on a rotational basis through on-call arrangements with compensation provided.

What you will bring to the role

  • Degree in engineering computing science data science or a related discipline.
  • Experience working within a similar analytical role in a regulated environment. Experience in the WEM/SWIS or other energy market or system will be highly regarded.
  • Established analysis skills and familiarity working with Python SQL and Excel.
  • Familiarity with Grafana PI Vision PowerBI or VBA will also be well regarded.
  • High attention to detail coupled with an ability to meet deadlines and prioritise multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
