We are seeking a Technical Support Engineer for our client in the chemical manufacturing industry to be responsible for providing technical expertise and application support to drive the growth of the engineering plastics business regionally. This role supports customers and internal stakeholders through material evaluation application development failure analysis and technical solutions working closely with Commercial and R&D teams & require someone with a strong plastic injection molding background.
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support to customers and internal commercial teams including technical data material selection guidance and competitor grade benchmarking for pre-sales and after-sales activities.
- Deliver comprehensive technical solutions beyond material supply including tooling recommendations part design analysis CAE simulations and injection molding support.
- Plan conduct and evaluate analysis methods based on actual application requirements to generate relevant technical data for customer development projects.
- Conduct molding trials with customers to validate material and application performance.
- Investigate mechanical and physical properties of engineering plastics using scientific instruments to support new product and application development.
- Perform failure benchmarking root cause analysis and destructive or non-destructive testing to identify material or application defects.
- Translate customer application requirements into material property specifications and collaborate with R&D to develop or formulate new materials.
- Support technical discussions and negotiations with customers on performance limitations of newly developed materials.
- Work closely with the commercial team to develop mid-term and long-term business strategies for target applications and markets.
- Provide technical support to the commercial team to achieve short-term sales and budget targets.
- Conduct market research on emerging technologies and industry trends relevant to current and future applications.
- Support technical marketing initiatives to develop new markets and customers.
- Provide technical training to distributors traders and business partners; extend training to customers when required.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation test reports experimental records and procedures.
- Support and participate in trade shows exhibitions and technical seminars to enhance product branding and market presence.
Requirements:
- Degree in Polymer Science Materials Engineering Chemical Engineering Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience in engineering plastics polymers or related materials industries is a must
- Strong knowledge of material testing failure analysis and injection molding processes.
- Ability to translate application needs into technical and material solutions.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally with commercial R&D and customer teams.
- Willingness to travel regionally
