Location: Walton on Thames Surrey
Contract Type: Self-Employed / Management Contract
Hours: Approx. 40 hours per week (including minimum 25 hours coaching)
Contract Length: Initial 12 months (renewable annually)
Monthly Fee: 3167 performance bonuses

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Gym Manager to take full operational responsibility for an established gym in Walton on Thames. This is a hands-on leadership role combining gym management coaching staff supervision member engagement and business growth.

You will manage the gym as if it were your own driving exceptional member experience strong community culture and sustainable membership growth.

Key Responsibilities

Gym Operations

• Oversee day-to-day gym operations to ensure smooth safe and efficient functioning

• Deliver a minimum of 25 hours per week of coaching

• Ensure facilities are clean safe and well-maintained

Staff Leadership

• Recruit train (where required) and manage coaching admin and support staff

• Supervise subcontracted coaches and maintain performance standards

Member Experience & Retention

• Deliver exceptional customer service

• Handle member enquiries consultations onboarding and complaints

• Build and manage a strong community engagement programme including social and fitness events

Membership Growth

• Manage all new member leads from enquiry through to onboarding

• Implement retention and acquisition strategies aligned with annual targets

Marketing & Brand Growth

• Plan and deliver marketing initiatives to attract and retain members

• Manage and grow the gyms social media presence

• Promote classes programmes and events

Programming

• Develop and manage fitness programmes classes and special events

• Continuously enhance the member experience

Compliance & Data Protection

• Ensure compliance with all relevant laws regulations and industry standards

• Handle customer data in accordance with UK GDPR requirements

• Strong leadership and people management skills

• Confident coach with the ability to lead from the front

• Commercially minded with experience growing memberships

• Excellent communication and organisational skills
