PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Responsible for on-site leadership of electrical services for District facilities. Supervise and coordinate all work for a multi-disciplined building maintenance department.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Education:

High school diploma or GED required

Certification / License

Clear and valid Texas drivers license

Valid Texas Journeyman License- required

Master Electrician License- preferred

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Demonstrated considerable knowledge of tools equipment materials and practices of

the department

Demonstrated ability to estimate labor materials and equipment needed for a variety

of maintenance and repair activities

Ability to read and interpret blueprints schematics and field sketches

Demonstrated project management skills (oral and written)

Capable of completing mathematical formulas to include equipment calibrations

Basic computer skills

Detail oriented

Strong interpersonal skills

Work Conditions:

Tools/Equipment Used: Electrical measuring and testing equipment; hand tools;

power tools; light truck or van
Posture: Frequent standing kneeling/squatting bending/stooping pushing/pulling

and twisting; work in tiring and uncomfortable positions
Motion: Frequent walking grasping/squeezing wrist flexion/extension and overhead

reaching; frequent driving
Lifting: Heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds and over) on a daily basis
Environment: Work outside on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent

exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures dust noise vibration; exposure to

chemical and electrical hazards; work around machinery with moving parts; may work

alone; regularly work irregular hours; occasional prolonged hours; frequent districtwide

travel
Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress.

Regular attendance is an essential function

Minimum Experience:

Five years of building maintenance experience

Three years of Supervisory experience

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  1. Supervise the activities of the Electrical Department including: interviewing hiring and training employees assigning and directing work performance appraisals rewarding and disciplining employees addressing complaints and resolving problems
  2. Assign all electrical work and oversee completion and quality of work.
  3. Receive assign and complete work orders in a timely manner. Select material and hardware and calculate time and materials estimates. Maintain accurate records on material and labor used
  4. Oversee and perform the installation and repair of wiring electrical fixtures power equipment control and distribution apparatus and components of machinery and equipment following electrical code manuals specifications schematics and blueprints.
  5. Diagnose and resolve problems in electrical circuits systems and equipment and test continuity of circuits to ensure compatibility and safety of components.
  6. Oversee and perform the installation and connect power supply wiring cables conduit and electrical apparatus for machines and equipment in new and existing facilities following diagrams schematics or blueprints.
  7. Measure assemble and install electrical conduit using measuring devices hand tools pipe threader and conduit bender.
  8. Detect needed repairs on buildings grounds and equipment following established inspection procedures.
  9. Repair or recommend replacement of electrical appliances including commercial ovens ranges steam tables washers and dryers.
  10. Assist in the preparation of the annual budget analyze and review budgetary and financial data monitor expenditures in accordance with established guidelines.
  11. Maintain accurate information for payroll reporting (timecards tardiness overtime and absenteeism).
  12. Maintain inventory of district-owned tools equipment and materials.
  13. Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean.
  14. Coordinate work/projects with other maintenance departments and contractors.
  15. Work with building principals and supervisors to schedule and complete projects.
  16. Respond to emergency calls as needed.
  17. Provide training and orientation to all grounds personnel in safety procedures and proper and safe use of tools and equipment.
  18. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting and climbing. Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
  19. Correct unsafe conditions in work area and promptly report any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor.
  20. Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment to make sure equipment is in safe operating condition.
  21. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  22. Comply with policies established by federal and state laws and regulations and local board policy.
  23. Perform other duties as assigned.
