Overview

The Utah State University Libraries seeks a collaborative innovative and user-centered candidate for the position of Research Support Librarian for Scholarly Identity & Impact to join a team supporting faculty students and researchers in discovering creating and sharing knowledge. The Research Support Librarian provides expertise in research impact integrity and reproducibility as well as open science delivering timely education and outreach services relevant to the evolving research ecosystem. We view open research as a vital component of USUs land- and space-grant mission and the universitys continued success as a Carnegie R1 Research Institution. This position plays a critical role in supporting researchers by promoting open ethical and rigorous practices across disciplines.

Working with a team of librarians the Research Support Librarian engages with students and faculty to support emerging open knowledge and scholarly communication initiatives in all fields. Collaborating with library colleagues and groups across campus including the Office of Research this position helps develop strategic initiatives and partnerships by conducting outreach and providing education on topics such as open science and researcher identity and impact. Additionally the Research Support Librarian engages with students and faculty including consultations and instruction as a member of a broad disciplinary liaison team.

Reporting to the head of Research Strategy and Innovation the position is a 12-month tenure-track faculty appointment. Support and mentorship are built into the tenure process. The estimated start date for the position is Summer 2026. Early-career librarians are encouraged to apply; professional development and training will be supported based on the needs of the successful candidate. Review will begin on February 26th 2026 and continue until the position is filled.

Salary is minimum of $60000 plus excellent benefits including a 14.2% (starting at $7810) annual retirement contribution. Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with colleagues in the library and across USU to develop robust sustainable and targeted research tools and programs for all faculty students and staff.
  • Develop the expertise needed to support initiatives in the areas of research identity impact and integrity.
  • Provide instruction support and expertise on tools platforms and workflows that promote open science and transparent research practices.
  • Maintain awareness of emerging trends tools and resources related to research support.
  • Develop strong collaborative relationships across USU to foster a deep understanding of research needs of faculty students and staff through consultations projects and outreach.
  • Provide research support through consultations and instruction as part of a liaison team.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • ALA-accredited MLS or international equivalent by August 2026.
  • Commitment to responding flexibly and effectively to the shifting needs and priorities of the Libraries and Libraries constituents.
  • Interest and ability to engage in ongoing professional development research and service activity to achieve promotion and tenure.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in academic libraries.
  • Experience supporting faculty or student research.
  • Interest in research impact metrics and analytics.

Knowledge Skills and Abilites

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Knowledge of or interest in current practices and emerging trends in research support.
  • Ability to engage with and support researchers.
