This position provides the opportunity of working at a WASC accredited international school managing small class sizes and teaching academically motivated students from diverse cultural backgrounds. Chiang Mai International School provides a generous amount of planning time to allow teachers to prepare classes and monitor student progress. The successful candidate will be working collaboratively in a positive and supportive department with well-qualified professional colleagues.
Qualifications
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Student Learning Support/Special Education
- Teaching license / certification from an accredited university/college
- Ability to work with and provide student learning support to PreK-Gr 12 students in all disciplines
- Minimum 2 years ES/MS/HS experience providing student learning support
- Theoretical and research-based knowledge of language acquisition and child development
- Student-centered flexible and creative instruction
- Attentive to social-emotional learning needs of students
- Commitment to collaborative planning
- Proficient with educational administrative and communication technology
- Able to effectively communicate with school personnel students parents service providers and community
- Able to research teach and model research-based practices used to address the needs of all learners
- Fluent in English with excellent writing skills
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- Masters Degree in Student Learning Support/Special Education
- Experience teaching in a multicultural setting
- Experience administering a variety of assessments and analyzing/communicating results
- Experience in data analysis and goal setting to inform and improve instructional practices
- Experience with interactive technology
- Good knowledge of multiple related disciplines
- Experience with differentiating and accommodating to meet learning and language needs
Major Job Responsibilities
- Works with Student Success Team and classroom teachers to assure delivery of appropriate student learning support services in the least restrictive environment
- Plan and prepare interventions to provide learning support to students in all grade levels/all disciplines as necessary
- Assist PK-Gr 12 teachers in employing appropriate research-based learning strategies to ensure student achievement. (This may include a variety of differentiated instructional strategies programs plans and assessment tools.)
- Consults with members of Student Support Team administrators and other relevant persons to evaluate schoolwide student support programs and curricula
- Provide assessment-related input during admissions process as needed
- Create positive engaging and supportive learning environment
- Collaborate with classroom instructors to design and present effective standards-based instructional units
- Implement contribute to and/or develop curriculum associated with various subject areas as needed
- Plans and participates in the presentation of regular SST in-service training workshops for staff parents and students as appropriate
- Provide constructive feedback to students parents and administration
- Monitors student progress program effectiveness and resource utilization
- Shares information relative to student services objectives and programs to the students parents and staff
- Coordinates and conducts meetings to discuss individual student progress needs interventions
- Deliver high-quality student-centered instruction
- Evaluate and assess student performance and prepare professional-level reports based on school reporting schedule
- Meet all deadlines related to submission of documents information and records
- Incorporate regular assessment data to inform instructional decisions
- Differentiate instruction strategies to meet the needs of all learners
- Work collaboratively with other educators to provide student-specific learning support
- Establish and maintain professional communication with parents students and colleagues
- Proctors schoolwide assessment protocols (e.g. WIDA MAP etc.) and assists in the utilization of data acquired from external assessments
- Report for and perform supervision duties as assigned
- Sponsor organize and supervise one extracurricular activity for one semester
- Collaborate to plan implement and chaperone school activities related to divisional all school classroom or activities
- Attend all required scheduled meetings involving students parents faculty staff and administration
- Serve on at least one school-based committee as assigned
- Travel with and supervise school-based field trips (day trips and/or overnight trips) as assigned
- Adhere to CMIS child protection policies
- Understand Christian values and demonstrate positive character
- Perform other duties as assigned
