Description

In accordance with the Vision Purpose and Values and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Reporting to the Manager Volunteer Engagement the Consultant is responsible for the maintenance and administration of volunteer service programs including recruitment screening orientation training supervision and evaluation of volunteers. The Consultant supports the daily operations for patient/resident and client support and/or service programs. The Consultant assists the Manager Volunteer Resources in the promotion and development of volunteer services internally and in the community.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education Training And Experience

A level of education training and experience equivalent to a Bachelors degree in Administration Social Sciences Education Health Sciences or a related field and three years of recent related experience.

Skills And Abilities

  • Demonstrated administration and supervisory skills
  • Demonstrated Human Resource Coordination skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment plan and organize.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing including the ability to respond diplomatically to both internal and external inquiries.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide guidance and direction to others.
  • Ability to work as a team member in a cooperative and supportive manner.
  • Ability to interact with a variety of people and personalities and to provide motivation and encouragement to volunteers.
  • Ability to take initiative and work with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to productively use a computer and technology.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
