Position Description
Definition
The Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Forensic Analyst is assigned to the Digital Technology Section of the Digital Investigations Bureau and performs complex and extensive analytical work in support of criminal investigations using computer programs and systems. Forensic exams involve routine exposure to Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) and require forensic reports documenting CSAM pictures and/or videos contained on electronic devices to be used in prosecutions to prove suspects involvement in Child Sexual Exploitation cases. The ICAC Forensic Analyst will maintain updated training and certificates necessary to testify as an expert witness in criminal cases; is responsible for documenting and logging evidence examined; and ensuring CSAM materials are not removed from ICAC task force location without supervisory approval.
Distinguishing Characteristics
This position serves at the pleasure of the Sheriff and is not subject to the competitive requirements of the Civil Service Rules of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

Minimum Qualifications/Position-Specific Conditions
Best Candidates Will Have
- Experience: Three years of analytical or lead worker level experience addressing digital evidence digital forensics cybercrimes or related crimes. (Analytical work is defined as researching and collecting data breaking wholes into parts categorizing compiling and evaluating information for the purpose of making independent discretionary judgments and drawing conclusions based upon these judgments.)
- A bachelors or masters degree from an accredited college or university preferably in computer technology computer forensics digital forensics or a related field.
- Investigative technical and analytical experience including preparing and writing reports.
- Recent Digital Forensic experience.
- Recent experience conducting computer-related investigations in a law enforcement agency.
- Courtroom testimony experience.
- Certifications:
- Certified Forensic Computer Examiner (CFCE) or equivalent digital forensics certifications (i.e. SANS GIAC etc.):
- Experience in complex state and federal investigations.
- Security clearance or ability to obtain a security clearance.
- The ability toplan organize and/or conduct reviews and studies in cybercrimes digital forensics and criminal intelligence; conduct research and collect compile and analyze information from various sources.
- Experience preparing technical analytical and/or narrative reports and other written materials involving data interpretation feasibility analysis investigative analysis findings and recommendations; and the preparation of spreadsheets graphs charts associated matrices bulletins and other supporting documentation for inclusion in such reports.
- Experience with learning complex technical configurations and philosophies and adapting to change.
- Experience with performing complex documentation of written and digital communications preferably bi-lingual (English and Spanish).
- Experience in training and teaching others.
- Experience with delegating assigning and escalating tasks.
- Excellent verbal communication critical thinking and multi-tasking skills.
- Experiencewithretrieval redaction maintenance and release of information related to digital investigations.
- Worked in an assignment or job where confidentiality was strictly adhered to.
- Excellent verbal/written communication skills and the ability to brief and update accordingly regardless of audience.

Incumbents are required to be:- Available to work varied shifts and RDOs.

- Exposed to graphic crime scenes.
- Exposed to child sexual abuse material (CSAM) on a regular basis.
