Elementary Principal
CLASSIFICATION: Certified
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Missouri Teachers and Administrators certificate and appropriate age group certification
- Administrative experience required (assistant principal or principal)
- Masters Degree in appropriate grade level administration required Specialist required and Doctorate preferred
- Criminal justice fingerprint and background clearance
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board and/or Superintendent may find appropriate
REPORTS TO: Superintendent and/or his/her designee
SUPERVISES: Entire student body and both certified and classified staff within the building
JOB GOAL: Serve as an instructional leader to enhance student learning opportunities while working to establish a safe and
effective learning environment for both students and staff.
PERFORMANCE AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Adheres to and follows all adopted Board of Education policies and procedures
- Establishes and maintains effective relationships with students staff parents and community
- Serves as a lead learner in the building with an unyielding focus on enhancing student learning
- Communicates and reinforces district vision and mission effectively to staff parents students and community members
- Learns and models strategies to assist teachers in higher and more challenging levels of student learning
- Integrates technology consistently to enhance both teacher and student learning opportunities
- Organizes and prioritizes educator workload to best meet the needs of students and staff
- Establishes and maintains high standards and expectations to achieve an effective learning atmosphere
- Identifies student needs makes appropriate referrals and works with special education staff to ensure all students needs are met
- Works well as a team member to serve all constituencies
- Adheres to and follows all deadlines and requirements as presented by administration/state/federal law
- Attends all meetings as requested by district administration
- Works to develop a positive respectful engaging and enriching school environment for students and staff
- Develops a professional development plan annually and commits to lifelong learning and growth
- Assists in supervising students at school events both during and after school hours
- Leads the instructional program to maximize personnel to meet the needs of all students
- Supervises and evaluates both certified and classified staff
- Oversees and manages the budget
- Designs implements evaluates and refines curricular co-curricular and extracurricular programs
- Uses assessment data related to student learning to achieve school vision and goals
- Makes high visibility active involvement and communications with the larger community a top priority
- Ensures the school and all components of the school operate safely efficiently and effectively
- Maintains strict confidentiality as required by law
- Assists in safety inspections and safety drill practice activities
- Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities the superintendent and/or his/her designee may assign
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve-month position with applicable health and life insurance annual vacation and paid leave allowance provided. Salary to be established by the Board of Education.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Boards policy on Evaluation of Administrative Personnel.
PHYSICAL MENTAL AND VISUAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to stand walk and sit. Additionally the employee may occasionally be required to push or lift up to 50 lbs as necessary for the safety and well-being of others. Lastly this job requires the employee to have the vision ability to read handwritten or typed materials and meet multiple demands from several people while interacting with other staff and the public.
