Job Summary

The Electronic Health Record (EHR) Optimization Lead will play a key role in optimizing EHR solutions that enable Aledades partner practices to improve patient outcomes reduce healthcare costs and increase efficiency.

They will collaborate with practice stakeholders along with the multi-disciplinary Aledade team to identify develop and implement EHR solutions to support strategic ACO initiatives. Additionally this role will facilitate the collection of practice-generated data that can be used for population-based analytics.

They will have depth of knowledge in at least one top-tier ambulatory EHR solution have a strong understanding of practice workflow and be able to travel periodically. The EHR Optimization Lead must thrive in a fast-paced environment respond well to change and be a strong verbal and written communicator.

The EHR Optimization Lead will be responsible for providing multi-program leadership and serving as a mentor to team members. This role is crucial in ensuring high-level performance of the team fostering innovation and creating strong collaboration pathways with vendors practices and other Aledade teams.

Primary Duties


    • Lead EHR Optimization and Associated Project Management
    • Coordinate efforts to conduct assessments of how practices are currently utilizing their EHR systems and identify areas where their systems can be optimized to support ACO initiatives.
    • Assist practices to fully leverage their existing EHR systems or other 3rd party systems to support strategic ACO initiatives.
    • Support practices with MIPS compliance.
    • Build and maintain strong client relationships demonstrating expertise in EHR optimization.
    • Lead implementation processes in which our team deploys a variety of point of care EHR integration technologies such as overlays.
    • Independently manage multiple projects at various stages to provide Aledades tools and train practice staff on patient-centric value based workflows.
    • Communicate project progress effectively to internal and external stakeholders.
    • Present to audiences ranging from practice leadership/executives to front line staff influencing adoption of best practices and materials that orient to Aledades service.
    • Proficiently deliver detailed but concise training content on complex material to multiple client stakeholders.
    • Provide EHR Expertise
    • Identify common approaches such as templates or customized reports that practices can use to achieve specific aims such as Medicare Wellness Visits Transitions of Care Advance Care Planning or Risk/Hierarchical Condition Categories.
    • Identify existing or develop new high-quality adult learning optimized educational materials that can assist practice staff in understanding how best to utilize their EHR system or other 3rd party systems to align with value based care principles.
    • Understand relevant EHR vendor system updates specifically related to population health management.
    • Develop and support EHR-system-specific user groups composed of representatives from Aledades ACO practices to identify best practices and training opportunities.
    • Provide strategic input on how EHR optimization can support ACO initiatives.
    • Serve as an in-house expert on at least 1-2 top-tier EHRs.
    • Facilitate Data Exchange
    • Assist practices in ensuring data is properly captured in their EHR systems in order to accurately generate quality measure and other reporting.
    • Ensure practices are able to share practice-generated data with Aledade.
    • Assist with development of integrations interfaces and data sharing strategies for assigned practices.
    • Ability to navigate more complex or non-standard integration paths
    • Leadership/Mentoring
    • Lead multiple program initiatives and provide thought partnership in designated areas while collaborating across internal teams.
    • Collaborate with senior management and/or vendors to identify opportunities for growth and innovation in EHR solutions.
    • Deep understanding and demonstrated ability to explain the business case behind initiatives to internal and external stakeholders
    • Mentor and support team members providing guidance on EHR related tasks and initiatives.
    • Facilitate training sessions and develop educational material to enhance team member skills.
    • Provide input in the interview and hiring process.
    • Thinks beyond immediate team and contributes to making Aledade holistically better.

Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelors degree required; significant relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of educational requirements.
    • 6 years experience working as a client-facing project lead in the healthcare industry (i.e. ambulatory practice EHR vendor health plan hospital government management consulting) with a proven track record of creating maintaining and enhancing customer relationships and optimization of their EHR systems.
    • 3 years implementation or optimization experience with top-tier ambulatory EHRs and practice management software preferably with expertise in Epic Ambulatory NextGen Athena Greenway or eClinicalWorks products.

Preferred KSAs

    • Experience developing and maintaining cross team stakeholder relationships
    • Experience in project management
    • Experience leading and mentoring team members fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
    • Deep Epic Ambulatory experience including building and debugging OPAs and FHIR app integrations

    • Sitting for prolonged periods of time. Extensive use of computers and keyboard.
