Job Summary

Elementary Teacher

Pettit Park Elementary School (3-5)

Job Summary: Prepare students for the success with focused and engaged learning that creates a positive environment focused on whole group and individual student learning; provide diverse learning opportunities using project- and inquiry-based experiences technologies and instructional strategies; revise curriculum to meet requirements; plan units and lesson with deep understanding of Indiana Academic Standards; participate in district and building level professional development in order to continue professional growth; collaborate with other teachers.

Certification and Qualifications: Valid Indiana teaching license with elementary certification required.

Key Responsibilities:

Assess and document student progress providing feedback to students and parents.
Participate in staff meetings training sessions and collaborative planning.
Supervise students during school activities field trips and breaks.
Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet students varying needs.
Maintain accurate records of student attendance grades and behavior.
Comply with school policies state regulations and ethical teaching standards.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during classroom instruction and supervision.
Manual dexterity to operate classroom technology and equipment.
Visual and auditory ability to monitor student behavior and respond to classroom situations.
Ability to move quickly in response to student safety needs.
Ability to perform light physical activitiessuch as bending kneeling and reachingas required in a classroom setting as well as lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
