POSITION TITLE: Family & Community Engagement Coordinator
REPORTS TO: Director of Enrollment and Family Engagement
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Community Engagement Liaison serves as a primary connection between the school district families and community partners. Under the direction of the Director of Enrollment and Family Engagement the incumbent works to strengthen family-school-community relationships support equitable access to district programs and services and promote meaningful engagement of families in their childrens education. The Liaison provides direct assistance to families facilitates communication across stakeholders and coordinates outreach efforts to ensure inclusive and responsive engagement practices district-wide.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in education social services public administration community engagement or a related field or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and coursework.
- Experience working in public schools community-based organizations social service agencies or family engagement programs.
- Strong interpersonal customer service and relationship-building skills with experience working with diverse populations.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing with families staff and community partners. - Demonstrated ability to collaborate across departments and with external organizations.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accurate records.
- Bilingual proficiency (Spanish preferred) including the ability to read write and speak fluently.
Preferred:
- Knowledge of local community resources related to housing transportation food assistance healthcare and family support services.
- Experience supporting family engagement initiatives enrollment processes or outreach campaigns.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills cultural competence and a growth-oriented mindset.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the District-level Cabinet may deem appropriate and consistent with applicable state requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Family and Community Engagement
- Serve as a liaison between families schools and community organizations to promote trust collaboration and shared responsibility for student success.
- Support families in navigating district systems programs and services.
- Promote inclusive family engagement practices that reflect the communitys cultural linguistic and socioeconomic diversity.
Outreach and Communication
- Coordinate and support community outreach initiatives workshops and informational sessions for families.
- Facilitate effective two-way communication between schools and families including translation or coordination of translation services as needed.
- Disseminate accurate and timely information regarding district programs enrollment policies and opportunities for family participation.
Partnership Development
- Develop and maintain relationships with community-based organizations service providers and municipal partners.
- Maintain an up-to-date inventory of community resources and refer families to appropriate supports.
- Collaborate with district departments and school staff to align community partnerships with district goals.
Program Support and Coordination
- Assist in planning and facilitating district-wide family and community engagement events.
- Support family participation in school councils advisory groups and School Committee subcommittees.
- Conduct home or community visits with families of current or prospective students when appropriate.
Data Compliance and Continuous Improvement
- Maintain records of outreach activities family contacts and referrals.
- Collect feedback from families and community partners to inform continuous improvement of engagement strategies.
- Perform related duties as assigned to support district priorities.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- May require evening and occasional weekend hours to support family and community events.
- Travel within the district and community locations may be required.
