What youll be doing
Youre joining a dynamic summer camp leadership team where roles and tasks are collaborative and shared. As the Director youll be at the forefront of the leadership team setting the tone unifying the camp community and carrying out the traditions of Co-Op Summer Enrichment.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
Reporting to the Lead Administrator youll work as part of the Co-Op Leadership Team to handle advanced planning for the Co-Op program and full implementation during the summer program dates. Everyone on the Leadership Team supports each other in completing tasks while specializing in specific areas.
The specialized work areas for this role include but are not limited to:
- Lead the process for planning and designing summer enrichment program content and scheduling for rising grades 1 to 5
- Review and interview potential staff hires for educators and other support staff
- Assist with identifying and coordinating a STEM professional development coach for the Educator Team
- Communicate with educators to ensure that they complete their tasks in a timely manner including:
- Curriculum design and supply sourcing with support from the STEM Coach
- Supply ordering
- Maintenance and use of the Google Drive to track STEM major development and materials
- Supervise summer learning and instruction ensuring adherence to developed curriculums learning goals and district standards
- Supervise and manage camper behavioral emotional and mental well being including implementing behavior plans and disciplinary procedures as outlined in the camp code of conduct
- Coordinate with camp operations to finalize field trips and in-house enrichment programs including reviewing transportation managing staffing reviewing educational goals and content establishing policies and procedures
- Identify and develop partner experiences to enhance the quality of our program
- On-going support of educators during the summer program cycle including weekly meetings to ensure quality implementation of all curriculum
- Oversee the tracking of educator and support staff hours in order to coordinate bi-weekly payroll implementation in coordination with camp operations
- Work with Leadership Team to create and implement a quality self-assessment plan based upon the NYSAN Quality Assessment Tool
Beyond the specialized work requirements the Leadership Team works together to complete many shared tasks and meet these overall goals:
Pre-season
- Attend weekly Leadership Team meetings via Zoom
- Meet as a full Leadership Team team for a minimum of 9 hours shared planning time before mid-June
- Attend and help organize pre-camp related functions and activities such as fundraising events parent orientation and registration days
Camp-season
- Supervise all staff in the completion of their duties providing regular feedback through managers
- Collaboratively lead weekly staff meetings
- Collaborate on weekly staff incentive activities to motivate and engage staff
- Communicate with families staff or community partners regularly reply to concerns promptly
- Maintain critical administrative paperwork such as registration attendance payroll submissions reports and invoices
- Advise implement and enforce the highest level of safety for children at all times
- Supervise lunch room ensuring timely arrival dismissal of all groups adhering to the camp schedule
- Supervise pool staff and operations including spot visitations to the pool site
- Stay late (see times below) at least one day per week to ensure all bus campers have been dropped
- Attend camp trips as a supervisory team member possibly functioning as a Trip Director Bus Leader or Group Leader as necessary
Post-season
- Work with Leadership Team to collaboratively determine bonus payments for all head and assistant counselors
- Gather summarize and submit post-program feedback from all staff members to inform our Quality Assessment review process (due no later than November 1 2026) to be presented to the Board of Education as our Co-Op Annual Report

We are looking for team players who are experienced educators friendly flexible passionate and want to give back. 15% of staff have been working for us for 5 years. We build commitment and community.
Requirements
- At least 25 years old as of June 1st 2026
- Have a bachelors degree
- Minimum 5 years of teaching experience or working professionally in a school setting
- Leadership skills such as experience on a school leadership team or managing staff CPR and First Aid training from an approved vendor on the NYS Dept. of Health list (we will train you if you do not possess this certification)
Helpful to have:
- Past experience working with kids in a group recreational setting such as camp or after school
- A desire to make a difference in the lives of kids
- Are Bilingual (Spanish/English)Knowledge of what Color War is and a strategy to win the annual trophy
All employees must:
- Possess a valid social security card and NYS state identification
- Pass a background check with fingerprint approval if you are not a Mamaroneck School District employee (we will provide instructions as part of the onboarding process)
- Provide two professional references if you are not a Mamaroneck School District employee and are a new Co-Op employee
REQUIRED PROGRAM DATES & TIMES:
Pre-season:
- Camp planning duties as necessary (approximately 1-5 hours per week) leading up to the start of camp
- Weekly leadership team meetings via Zoom starting February 2026
- Pre-camp related meetings and functions as needed and noted above
- Attend 3 in-person coordinated Leadership Team Meetings for a minimum of 9 hours (three 3 hour meetings) in May & June
- Additional meetings at the discretion of the STEM Alliance
Camp-season:
June 29 2026 to August 7 2026 (No camp Friday July 3rd)
- 7:30 A.M. to 3:30 P.M. Regular camp days
- 7:30 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. Regular camp days with weekly staff meeting
- 7:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. Designated weekly late day for bus supervision
Additional hours as needed to handle planning or special administrative duties that happen outside of program hours
Post-season:
- Meet to review assessment data and final presentation to Board of Education (minimum three 1 hour meetings)
*all program start and end times/dates subject to change until program design is complete by June 1st
