We are seeking an experienced strategic advisor to partner with leading retailers in shaping growth strategies and transformation roadmaps across five critical capability areas:
Management & Assortment Optimize assortment space planning and planogram strategies to drive category growth.
Operations Excellence Advise on labor scheduling in-store execution and loss prevention strategies for operational efficiency.
Retail Strategy Design unified commerce models BOPIS/BORIS frameworks and last-mile delivery strategies.
Analytics & Insights Enable advanced analytics for basket analysis shopper behavior and sales forecasting.
Label Strategy Guide own-brand development tier architecture and supplier sourcing for margin improvement.
This role focuses on advising senior executives creating future-state operating models and guiding clients through data-driven decision-making to achieve measurable business outcomes.
Responsibilities
Strategic Advisory
Lead executive-level workshops to define growth priorities and transformation pathways.
Develop strategic playbooks investment cases and governance models for each capability area.
Deliver insights on emerging trends AI-driven analytics and unified commerce strategies.
Capability-Specific Advisory
Category Management & Assortment: Advise on assortment optimization space planning and planogram design for omni-channel retail.
Store Operations Excellence: Recommend strategies for labor optimization in-store execution and shrink reduction.
Omnichannel Retail Strategy: Shape unified commerce models BOPIS/BORIS processes and last-mile delivery frameworks.
Retail Analytics & Insights: Guide clients on leveraging data for shopper insights basket analysis and predictive sales forecasting.
Private Label Strategy: Advise on brand architecture sourcing strategies and margin improvement through private label expansion.
Client Engagement
Act as a trusted advisor to C-suite and senior stakeholders.
Facilitate strategy design sessions and capability maturity assessments.
Influence decisions on assortment pricing store operations and channel strategies.
Practice Development
Create POVs whitepapers and frameworks for retail transformation.
Mentor teams on advisory methodologies and strategic storytelling.
Contribute to offering development and go-to-market initiatives.
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications
Bachelors in Business Retail Management or related field; MBA preferred.
Relevant experience in retail strategy consulting or senior advisory roles.
Proven track record advising on Category Management Store Operations and Omnichannel Strategy plus exposure to Analytics and Private Label.
Familiarity with AI-driven analytics and digital commerce transformation.
Willingness to travel for client workshops and strategy sessions.
Preferred qualifications
Deep understanding of retail merchandising store operations omnichannel fulfillment and private label economics.
Ability to translate data and analytics into strategic recommendations.
Strong executive presence and facilitation skills for boardroom-level engagements.
Influence on client strategic decisions (validated through adoption of recommended frameworks).
Growth in advisory revenue and client satisfaction scores.
Thought leadership contributions (published POVs speaking engagements).
