About the Role
Under the guidance of the Unit Manager or Associate Nurse Unit Manager the Registered Nurse will be responsible for providing quality supportive care for clients in Depaul House in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
Within this role you will support the client in withdrawal by considering their physical and psychological needs by reducing further risks. You will also have the responsibility to participate and facilitate groups according to the in-house program activities.
Monitor physical withdrawal and respond with protocol medication
Evaluate client needs respond in a timely manner and be involved in coordinatng and collaborating with the Welfare Worker in all aspects of client management in recovery process
Identify and anticipate a decline in clients physical /emotional withdrawal state
Be responsible for having Information and knowledge of client history progress pathology and follow up via handover
Ensure documentation is according to SVHM requirements
Monitor team functioning including the responsibility to ensure safety and cleanliness of the unit maintaining equipment (medical and domestic) and timely reporting of damages
The classification for this position will be YU1 ($107541 per annum pro rata)
About Depaul House
Depaul House is a 12 bed Community Residential Alcohol and Drug withdrawal unit providing a medicated detoxification for up to 10 days. Depaul House is part of St Vincents Department of Addiction Medicine.
Your Contribution
Current registration with the Australian Practitioner Registration Agency (APRHA)
Degree in General Nursing or equivalent
A valid Nationally Cooridnated Criminal History Check or willing to obtain
Having knowledge and experience working in the Alcohol and Other Drug Sector minimum of 3 years experience.
Proficiency with case formulation development of discharge planning and follow-up
Ability to perform responsibilities in a timely manner and prioritise work demands to ensure client clinical needs are met
Demonstrate an ability to problem solve and work as part of a multidisciplinary team
A valid Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check or willing to obtain

LOCAL WORK ENVIRONMENT
Depaul House is a 12 bed Community Residential Alcohol and Other Drug Withdrawal unit caring for people and providing a medicated withdrawal for up to 10 days. Depaul House fosters a standard of excellence within a skilled and compassionate team of Registered Nurses Enrolled Nurses and Welfare Workers.
POSITION PURPOSE
The Grade 3 Registered Nurse under the guidance of the Nurse Unit Manager or Associate Nurse Unit Manager will be responsible for providing quality supportive care to clients in Depaul House in collaboration with the Welfare Worker and multidisciplinary team.
The Grade 3 Registered Nurse will provide back fill for staff on leave and will be required to work 8-10 hour shifts on a rotating roster including am pm and night duty shifts.
The Grade 3 Registered Nurse will participate in and facilitate groups according to the in-house program activities and support the clients in withdrawal by considering their physical and psychological needs to reduce further risks.
POSITION DUTIES

Consider the cost and budgeting implications when using or obtaining consumables in relation to the operation of Depaul House
SELECTION CRITERIA
Current registration with the Australian Practitioner Registration Agency (APRHA)
Degree in General Nursing or equivalent
Having knowledge and experience working in the Alcohol and Other Drug Sector minimum of 3 years experience.
Proficiency with case formulation development of discharge planning and follow-up
Ability to perform responsibilities in a timely manner and prioritise work demands to ensure client clinical needs are met
Demonstrate an ability to problem solve and work as part of a multidisciplinary team
Post graduate qualifications in Alcohol and other Drugs studies desirable
An understanding of Mental Health /Dual Diagnosis is advantageous
