Are you a service driven library professional who enjoys connecting with people beyond traditional library walls and thrives in a role where no two days look the same The Library Specialist Mobile Library Services temporary position supports community members through welcoming inclusive library service delivered in assisted living communities and outreach locations.

Arapahoe Libraries is seeking a temporary Library Specialist Mobile Library Services to provide direct patron assistance materials support and outreach services through lobby stops and mobile settings. This role focuses on patron engagement materials handling and outreach support helping ensure library services remain accessible and responsive across the community.

About the Role

The Library Specialist Mobile Library Services works primarily in assisted living communities and smaller outreach locations with cross training on bookmobile services. This position is well suited for someone who can adapt quickly to changing locations and patron needs while maintaining a calm supportive presence. This role represents the library in community-based environments while supporting patron needs library materials and programs. Work takes place in mobile and shared spaces both indoors and outdoors and may include evenings and on some occasions weekends.

Key Responsibilities

Patron Assistance

• Greets and assists community members at outreach locations including assisted living communities and the bookmobile
• Provides readers advisory basic reference assistance and library account support
• Promotes library resources programs and events and connects patrons with additional staff as needed
• Listens to feedback sets expectations for library use and helps de escalate and resolve concerns
• Maintains a clean organized and welcoming library environment

Technology Assistance

• Assists patrons with basic technology questions related to devices e books online resources and library equipment
• Troubleshoots printers and other library technology and connects patrons with additional support as needed

Materials Processing

• Processes shelves merchandises and maintains library materials and displays
• Loads and unloads book carts and boxes at multiple service locations

Home Delivery Programs and Outreach Support

• Assists with home delivery services and may drive a personal vehicle for occasional delivery assignments
• Supports programs events and outreach efforts and tracks attendance and service metrics
• Collaborates with colleagues across teams and engages in ongoing professional learning

Learning and Development

• Keeps current on library resources technology and services
• Shares feedback with supervisors and builds positive working relationships with coworkers

What Youll Bring

Customer Centered Service: One year of customer service library or education experience with the ability to provide welcoming responsive support to community members Advisory and Communication Skills: Ability to provide intermediate advisory services across formats and communicate library resources clearly and positively Technology Curiosity and Confidence: Intermediate Microsoft 365 skills with comfort learning new technologies alongside patrons Adaptability and Initiative: Ability to work in varied environments adjust to changing needs stay grounded in fast moving or unpredictable situations and maintain enthusiasm for continuous learning Equity Focused Perspective: Demonstrated ability to promote inclusivity work effectively with diverse populations and prioritize access and fairness Alignment to ALD Values: Commitment to collaboration equity and innovation through respectful communication and teamwork

Qualifications

• One year of customer service library or education experience
• Ability to work with people of all ages and diverse backgrounds including international cultures
• Ability to work in confined environments with fluctuating temperatures and in all weather conditions
• Ability to work evenings and weekends as required
• Intermediate technology skills using Microsoft 365 and the ability to learn new tools
• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the role as specified in the attached job description

Preferred

• Experience providing library or outreach services in community-based settings
• Experience working with older adults or assisted living communities
