- Responsible for achieving profit and loss (P&L) budgets budgeting meeting regulatory requirements marketing third party partnerships and other related services.
- Provide strategic updates and recommendations to executive leadership including the Vice President Chief Pharmacy Officer and the University of Maryland Medical Solutions Board to inform enterprise-level decision-making and guide long-term organizational strategy.
- Develop strategies for business development in collaboration with Specialty Pharmacy and other appropriate areas.
- Attend staff meetings and complete mandatory in-services requirements and competency evaluations on time.
- Identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk; develop and implement corrective action plans for resolution of problematic issues and provide general guidance on how to avoid and manage similar situations in the future.
- Collaborate with other departments to direct compliance issues to appropriate existing channels for investigation and resolution.
- Ensure staff receives introductory and ongoing training on a timely basis; ensure staff understands how the training received applies to their role/ unit/ department.
- Ensure staff is aware of how to report compliance concerns without fear of retaliation.
- Participate in all training and education on a timely basis.
- Provide marketing support and deliver sales presentations as requested.
- Oversee department performance improvement initiatives and coordinate department QA activities for pharmacy and nursing.
- Develop analyze and submit comprehensive P&L statements and detailed management reports on a regular basis ensuring accuracy timeliness and alignment with organizational financial goals.
- Provide in-depth variance analyses identify trends highlight operational performance metrics and deliver actionable insights to support strategic decision-making by senior leadership.
- Accountable for operational efficiency and optimal productivity with defined metrics for infusion operational units.
- Oversee and manage a variety of contracts (e.g. vendors home health agencies and payers etc.).
- Oversee the development implementation and evaluation of processes to provide optimal delivery of infusion services and other sterile compounding services.
- Guide department toward achievement of monthly quarterly and annual projections based on financial and management objectives.
- Manage drug expenses and operating margins by closely monitoring billing payer contracting and revenue processes; identify opportunities for improvement and initiate program growth.
- Assist Pharmacy Manager in coordinating pharmacy and nutrition activities including management of the clean room (e.g. drug preparation sterile products preparation dispensation etc.) supply chain (e.g. procurement of drugs supplies and equipment used in preparing and administering drugs etc.) and clinical pharmacy services (e.g. medication use guidelines formulary approvals etc.).
- Assist Nursing Manager in coordinating nursing and liaison activities (e.g. home/suite workflows emergency procedures referral processes etc.).
- Partner with key stakeholders across the organization to maximize the impact of Infusion Services for patients.
- Lead and participate in the recruitment and hiring of all departmental personnel.
- Establish individual performance goals and objectives and complete reviews annually.
- Participate in orientation and training of Pharmacy Nursing and other key operational stakeholders.
- Participate in local and national educational programs as an attendee and/or lecturer to bring knowledge to improve cost effectiveness and quality of care and service.
- Develop strategic plan with clear goals and expectations to ensure growth and efficiency for all affiliates and members of UMMS and the patients they serve.
- Identify new business opportunities evaluate and operationalize as appropriate.
- Design and implement services and delivery processes that are responsive to customer needs and support exceptional customer service clinical effectiveness optimal financial performance and patient safety for the enterprise.
- Communicate the status of projects operations staff concerns and problems to executive stakeholders on a continual basis.
- Collaborate with other pharmacy leaders and key medical nursing and administrative leaders throughout UMMS to ensure strategies goals and objectives are aligned.
- Develop implement and maintain policies and procedures for Infusion Services and the enterprise Medication Access Team (covering prior authorization benefits investigation appeals and free drug/patient assistance programs).
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws rules regulations and UMMS policies and procedures governing Infusion Services (e.g. USPand GMP standards) and Medication Access operations (e.g. HIPAA CMS guidance manufacturer program rules and payer requirements).
- Obtain and maintain accreditation related to Infusion Services.
- Obtain and maintain licenses and insurance required to operate a business in the states of Maryland Pennsylvania and Delaware
- Foster an environment that provides exceptional customer service world-class quality and effective communication with a focus on decisive fast-moving solutions quick and constructive resolutions to conflicts and a no barriers mentality.
- Provide executive-level reporting strategic planning and resource alignment in collaboration with the Vice President Chief Pharmacy Officer.

Qualifications :
Education and Experience
- Doctor of Pharmacy degree required.
- Minimum of five (5) years administrative/managerial pharmacy experience.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience directly managing people including hiring developing and motivating people as they work.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience managing a P&L including budget development.
- Licensure by the Maryland State Board of Pharmacy is required within 90 days of start date.
- Three (3) years of experience leading sales and/or operations in Home Health Care Infusion or Specialty Pharmacy preferred.
- Completion of a health-system pharmacy administration and leadership residency program accredited by the American Society of Hospital Pharmacists (each residency year equals three years of supervisory/managerial equivalent experience) preferred.
- An advanced degree such as an MBA MHA MPH or MS is preferred.
