The Bed Management Specialist
Plans directs and coordinates daily bed workflow in the hospital addition prioritizes bed delivery with multiple departments to manage consistent and productive patient throughput. Transports beds stretchers various transport devices and supplies to various locations within the hospital environment utilizing proper body mechanics.
Adapts to fluctuation in work demands by adjusting scheduling based on projected patient flow. Makes recommendations to management based on identified trends.
Maintains thorough knowledge of Clinical information systems for data entry and retrieval. Inputs maintains updates and monitors bed transport documentation.
Appropriately reports fluctuations in bed supply and demand. Prepares routine and non-routine special reports including gathering and summarizing data.
Provides administrative support to the management team through requested meetings and in the form of requested reports including supply utilization analysis and economic analysis.
Assists in coordinating orientation processes for new staff. Completes appropriate documentation and feedback in conjunction with leadership to orientee.
Works on distribution budgetary goals and departmental performance indicators or statistics.
May be responsible for the training and execution related to these product lines and other lines assigned.
Maintains a safe comfortable and therapeutic environment for patients families and coworkers in accordance with hospital standards. Knowledgeable of patients rights and respects the rights of the patient to include accepting or refusing medical care.
Acts as an advocate for team cohesion and cooperation.
Supports Clinical Transport Management in the execution of daily department priorities. Supports fellow coworkers to help drive performance in their areas supporting overall team and department performance.
Contributes to Carilion Clinics performance improvement activities. Actively participates in obtaining desired service line/ departmental operational excellence targets.
Communication occurs with coworkers leadership staff and clinicians in various departments as well as with others who interact with Clinical Transport operations.
Assists with the coordination of activities involving product standardization.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.

Other Minimum Qualifications: Effective interpersonal communication and teamwork skills required.
Strong communication skills & ability to work with others in a team setting. Proficiencies in Microsoft Office spreadsheet management. Ability to act independently with minimum supervision. Ability to perform repetitive tasks for long periods of time. Ability to perform in a continually changing environment with tight deadlines.
