POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Dean of Admissions the Admissions Counselor represents and presents Pacific Northwest College of Art (PNCA) undergraduate academic programs to prospective students families educators and counselors regionally and nationally. This role requires the ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse ethnic socioeconomic and educational backgrounds and to engage appropriately in settings ranging from large group presentations to individual appointments.

Admissions Counselors are responsible for recruiting talented undergraduate students; managing admissions files; and reviewing completed applications for admission to PNCA undergraduate programs. Counselors attend local state and national recruitment events including college fairs and National Portfolio Days and assist in the planning and execution of on- and off-campus admissions events.

Successful candidates must be able to work independently manage competing priorities and meet deadlines. Strong written editing and computer skills are required including proficiency with Microsoft Word Excel admissions databases and iOS platforms. Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite and mobile presentation tools is a plus. This position requires extensive and frequent travel during fall and spring recruitment cycles as well as some evening and weekend work. Admissions Counselors must demonstrate a strong working knowledge of the visual arts.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Represent the quality and scope of an arts education at Willamette PNCA to high school art classes college and career centers prospective students families and the general public.

  • Present the colleges undergraduate programs admissions requirements tuition and basic financial aid information.

  • Represent Willamette PNCA at local state and national college fairs and portfolio review events including National Portfolio Days.

  • Communicate admissions procedures and policies for first-year transfer and international applicants.

  • Plan and support on- and off-campus admissions events including open houses information sessions admitted student events campus tours and recruitment travel.

  • Deliver presentations to diverse audiences using mobile computing tools.

  • Lead campus tours and host individual and group visits.

  • Travel frequently to high schools and community college events for recruitment activities.

  • Manage and follow up on prospective student inquiries received through web events school visits phone email and social media.

  • Interview prospective students and review portfolios offering guidance and feedback on artistic work.

  • Process and review undergraduate admissions files and evaluate completed applications for admission.

  • Track applicants from initial inquiry through enrollment.

  • Send admissions-related correspondence and ensure applicants understand requirements and next steps

  • Collaborate with the Financial Aid Office.

  • Submit travel proposals and documentation in compliance with university policies

  • Contribute to a diverse and inclusive campus community bringing perspectives and experiences that enrich the institution.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Bachelors degree

  • Authorization to work in the United States

  • Strong interest and knowledge of visual arts

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team

  • Proactive and creative problem-solving skills

  • Experience with databases email systems PC and iOS platforms and social media

  • Ability to travel frequently and work varied hours including evenings and weekends

  • Valid drivers license

  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs

Preferred

  • BFA Degree or college-level studio art experience

  • Experience in art college admissions or arts education

  • Working knowledge of print web video animation and related creative disciplines

  • Access to a reliable personal vehicle

Typical Work Schedule:

Monday through Friday 9 am to 5 pm with weekend and evening work required.
