TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE I Biological Engineering - The Ribbeck lab will be providing technical assistance on multiple high-impact projects; assist with projects to develop mucus-inspired therapies to control problematic pathogens; identify the mechanisms by which mucus prevents infection and tunes the human microbiota; and identify biomarkers in mucus that signify pathogen invasion and infection. The primary duties of this position include implementing biochemical protocols for mucin and mucin-glycan isolation and characterization and assisting with ongoing projects in the lab.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: A minimum of two years of laboratory experience in biochemistry biology microbiology or biological engineering lab; bachelors degree in molecular biology microbiology biological engineering or a related field; desire to work in a collaborative translational research environment with great opportunities for personal growth; be self-motivated organized detail-oriented; excellent record-keeping skills and familiarity and strong track record of adhering to laboratory safety protocols; and willingness to learn new techniques/protocols and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. PREFERRED: Experience with routine protein biochemistry techniques including protein purification methods and troubleshooting; experience with microbial culturing.
Night and weekends may be required as dictated by experiments. No travel is required. Immediate availability is preferred.
