The ACSO is seeking an ambitious and adaptable Community Engagement Intern. This role will get a well-rounded view of law enforcement through the lens of community engagement outreach and recruitment. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator people-person and highly adaptable. While primarily located at the Ada County Sheriffs Office this internship allows the opportunity to actively engage with the community at events career fairs and more. Essential Functions

Interns in this area may perform the following duties that include but are not limited to;

Community Event Support: Assist the Community Safety Coordinator in planning attending and engaging at events throughout the county.

Career Fair Support: Attend career fairs with the Talent Acquisition Administrator and speak with potential applicants about the ACSO and current openings.

Internal Event Support: Assist the Community Engagement Manager with internal events as needed.

Swag: Work with the Community Safety Coordinator to order inventory and distribute swag for events and deputies.

Crime Prevention: Support the Community Safety Coordinator with written materials on crime prevention (i.e. flyers brochures social media posts presentations) and attend neighborhood watch meetings.

Other duties as assigned


Job Requirements

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: An unpaid internship with the Ada County Sheriffs Office allows students to get professional experience typically while obtaining credit for school. If you are a student please see your Department Internship Adviser for details on how to register for the credits.

Please note that you must be currently enrolled as a degree-seeking student at a college or university or have recently graduated in the last year to apply for any internship. You must complete an interview background investigation and polygraph.

Only those colleges/universities with regional accreditation will be accepted. To verify if a school is regionally accredited go to The hiring process for our internship positions may take 6 to 8 weeks to complete. Please take this into account if you need to register for credit with your college or university.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

Currently enrolled as a degree-seeking student in a Communication Criminal Justice Political Science or other related discipline

Currently have a 3.0 cumulative GPA or above

Knowledge of English grammar punctuation and spelling

Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing

Ability to maintain confidentiality of information

Passion for law enforcement

Letter of recommendation from a professor
