Job Summary
Ashburnham Road Surgery in Bedford is looking for two friendly receptionists to join our team on afull-time basis working 8am to 6.30pm with an hours break. The first permanent receptionist is required to commence at the end of February and the second will be a maternity cover to commence in April 2026. We are ideally looking for the staff who have previous experience in the NHS GP practice.
The main responsibilities of the role include:
- Greet and welcome visitors in a professional manner
- Answer and direct phone calls to the appropriate departments
- Handle incoming and outgoing mail and packages
- Maintain a clean and organized reception area
- Provide administrative support to other departments as needed

About the Candidate
- Secondary education diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience working in an NHS GP practice
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency with office software such as Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
