A DAY IN THE LIFE:
As an ITTechnical Writer youll support the Information Technology team by creating maintaining and controlling high-quality technical and compliance-related documentation. Youll work cross-functionally with IT Cybersecurity and document owners to ensure documentation is accurate well-structured secure and compliant with internal quality standards and regulatory requirementsincluding proper handling of Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI). Youll play a key role in document lifecycle management change control and compliance readiness by managing documents from draft through final release and controlled storage. This role is designed to support a focused documentation and compliance initiative and is expected to be a temporary assignment aligned to project needs.

This is a temporary role lasting up to six months.

WHAT YOULL DO:

  • Develop IT Technical Documentation: Create edit and maintain IT technical manuals procedures work instructions and supporting documentation to ensure accuracy completeness and consistency.
  • Coordinate Documentation Planning: Manage timelines content development formatting and scheduling for IT technical and compliance-related documentation projects.
  • Gather & Analyze Technical Information: Interview IT team members observe processes and conduct research to accurately capture technical and procedural information.
  • Support Document Change Control: Manage document numbering versioning review coordination approval workflows release processes and controlled distribution.
  • Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work closely with IT teams to resolve documentation technical or process-related issues.
  • Ensure Security & Compliance: Provide guidance on document security classification including CUI marking expectations approved storage locations and handling requirements.
  • Correct Documentation Issues: Assist in identifying and correcting improperly marked or improperly stored IT documentation in coordination with document owners and IT leadership.
  • Manage Document Repositories: Organize IT documentation within approved systems such as SharePoint GCC High and M-Files ensuring logical structure accurate metadata and consistency.
  • Support Standardization Efforts: Develop and maintain standardized IT document templates headers footers and formatting to reduce errors and improve consistency.
  • Participate in Reviews & Audits: Serve as a documentation subject matter resource during document reviews presentations and compliance readiness activities.
  • Perform Other Duties: Complete additional tasks as assigned to support IT documentation and compliance objectives.

  • Document Control & Compliance: Managing document lifecycle activities such as versioning approvals change control and controlled storage in compliance-driven environments.
  • CUI Awareness & Information Security: Applying document security classifications including CUI marking handling requirements and approved storage practices.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Effectively partnering with IT Cybersecurity and document owners to resolve documentation issues and support compliance readiness.

WHAT YOULL NEED:

  • Associates degree in a technical communications or related field (Bachelors degree preferred).
  • 3 or more years of experience in technical writing documentation control or a related role.
  • Technical background strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in developing and editing technical manuals and documentation using computer-based tools.
  • Strong ability to interpret organize and communicate complex technical data.
  • Experience with document control systems and change management processes.
  • Exposure to NIST 800-171 or CMMC environments preferred.
  • Excellent organizational analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in dynamic environments.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office (Outlook Word Excel PowerPoint).
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adapt to evolving requirements.
  • Availability to support a temporary project assignment lasting up to six months.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
The starting rate for this position ranges from $38 - $48 per hour depending on the candidates job-related knowledge skills and experience.

  • Employment Type: Temporary project-based assignment (up to 6 months).
  • Benefits: As this is a temporary role benefits may be limited; details will be provided during the hiring process.
  • Note: This is a temporary project-specific role. Employment will conclude at the end of the assignment unless otherwise extended.
