PAY GRADE: 301
PAY RANGE: $26.27 /hour - $35.44 /hour; $54641.60 - $73715.20 annualized
JOB TYPE: Full time working 8 10 12 hour shifts rotating days and nights. Must be available nights weekends and holidays.
JOB LOCATION: Lecanto FL

JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE: A Duty Officer is responsible for processing inmates and registrants;executing arrests and probable cause arrests; running andconfirming all Citrus County wants/warrants/criminal histories with other agencies;registering sex offenders/predators felon registrants and career offenders;approving inmate releases from jail (surety and cash bonds cash purges and court ordered releases);and serving and distributing civil process paperwork and arrests. May be tasked with other duties as required.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (will vary depending upon certification class):
- Serves warrants
- Conducts local warrants and injunction checks.
- Signs surety and cash bonds.
- Initiates probable cause arrests.
- Serves as a Warrant Service Officer through the 287g ICE program.
- Conducts Criminal Histories on subjects when required.
- Serves subpoenas and other in-custody court summonses.
- Answers incoming calls.
- Report writing.
- Handles felon and sexual offender registrations.
- Transports prisoners.
- Fingerprints and takes photos and DNA of inmates.
- All CCSO employees are considered essential emergency workers and are subject to working in any capacity/hours deemed necessary by the Agency during activations including but not limited to in-County and out-of-County deployments.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Excellent verbal and written communications.
- Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently.
- Must be familiar with computer programs the agency requires
EDUCATION EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be Florida State Law Enforcement and/orCorrections Certified
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Possession of valid drivers license required.
- Must have good computer and typing skills.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Primarily indoors but may require working in all weather conditions.
- May encounter high levels of physical emotional and mental stress.
- Meet the physical requirement minimums for all sworn positions.
- Position requires prolonged sitting standing walking reaching twisting and turning kneeling bending squatting and stooping in the performance of daily activities.
- Must have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- The position requires grasping repetitive hand movement and fine coordination in preparing reports using a computer keyboard.
- Position requires near and far vision in reading.
- Acute hearing is required.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have the legal right to work in the United States.
- Valid Florida Drivers License.
- If a current CCSO employee then no disciplinary actions within the last 12 months and completion of current position time commitment requirement.

- Demonstrates polite helpful and courteous behavior respecting cultural differences when interacting with the public and colleagues.
- Responds to supervision guidance and direction in a positive receptive manner.
- Must be appropriately dressed and groomed.
- Reports to work promptly and properly prepared notifying supervisor of intended absences.
- Acts in a professional manner following established protocols and procedures.
An oral board with job-related questions and/or scenarios will be administered on a date specifically set with all potential candidates notified at least three days in advance of the specified date. The oral board passing score will be 80% or higher. All candidates/employees will compete against one another for one position and the final selection to fill this slot will be made by the Sheriff. The Sheriff reserves the right to make selections from internal or external sources.
