As an SEN Teaching Assistant you will provide essential support to pupils with a wide range of needs including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) ADHD SEMH difficulties speech and language challenges sensory processing issues and moderate learning difficulties. You will work 1:1 and with small groups helping pupils access the curriculum develop confidence and improve social and emotional skills.

Key Responsibilities

As an SEN Teaching Assistant your responsibilities will include:

• Delivering 1:1 support for pupils with additional needs

• Supporting small group interventions in literacy numeracy communication and emotional regulation

• Helping pupils access the curriculum alongside their peers

• Implementing strategies detailed in EHCPs IEPs and behaviour support plans

• Assisting with emotional regulation sensory needs and social interaction

• Encouraging positive behaviour independence and self-confidence

• Supporting pupils during classroom activities transitions playtimes and lunchtimes

• Preparing resources and visual aids to enhance learning

• Observing and recording pupil progress and feeding back to teaching staff

• Collaborating closely with class teachers SENCO and external professionals

• Maintaining a calm structured and inclusive classroom environment

• Supporting personal care where required with training provided

• Adhering to all safeguarding and child protection procedures

The Ideal Candidate

The school is looking for an SEN Teaching Assistant who:

• Has experience supporting children with SEN in school or care settings

• Is patient empathetic and emotionally resilient

• Understands Autism ADHD SEMH and communication needs

• Can confidently implement positive behaviour strategies

• Is proactive reliable and flexible

• Works well in a team and communicates effectively with staff and parents

• Is available for an ASAP start

• Demonstrates a commitment to safeguarding and child welfare

Experience supporting EHCPs speech and language interventions sensory integration strategies or SEMH support is desirable but training will be provided for the right candidate.
