Design & Technology Teacher Innovative Secondary School Southampton

Are you a creative problem-solver with a passion for design making and inspiring the next generation of engineers and designers

We are seeking a versatile and enthusiastic Design & Technology (D&T) Teacher to join a modern and well-equipped department at a thriving secondary school in Southampton. This is a full-time permanent position for an educator who is as comfortable in a workshop as they are in a digital design suite.


Key Details:

  • Role: Design & Technology Teacher

  • Contract: Full-time Permanent

  • Location: Southampton Hampshire (Excellent transport links and free on-site parking)

  • Curriculum: D&T across KS3 and KS4 (GCSE/Technical Awards); potential for KS5 delivery depending on specialism.

  • Salary: National Main/Upper Pay Scale (MPS/UPS).


The Opportunity

This is a fantastic opportunity for a D&T specialist to work in a department that values innovation and hands-on learning. You will have the opportunity to teach across a variety of disciplines potentially including Product Design Timbers Metals or Systems & Control.

The school boasts modern workshops and CAD/CAM facilities including 3D printers and laser cutters allowing you to bring 21st-century manufacturing techniques into the classroom. You will be responsible for fostering a safe creative and productive environment where students can turn their conceptual sketches into high-quality finished products.

We Are Looking For:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.

  • A specialist degree in Design & Technology Engineering or a related field.

  • Experience teaching a range of D&T disciplines at KS3 and KS4.

  • Strong technical skills including a solid understanding of Health & Safety (DATA) requirements and CAD/CAM software.

  • The ability to inspire students to think critically about sustainability ethics and user-centered design.

  • A proactive professional who is eager to contribute to the maintenance and development of the departments resources.
