Job Duties

Seeking a team-oriented and energetic individual passionate about serving the community. You will work closely with fellow healthcare technicians nurses and providers to deliver essential services to a diverse client population. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both clinical work and meaningful client interaction. A few key responsibilities you will perform are providing reproductive options screening for sexually transmitted infections taking vital signs performing phlebotomy capillary venipuncture pregnancy testing collecting a variety of lab specimens ordering supplies and coordination of lab services. You will receive a supportive team-based environment that will tailor your orientation and training to your experience and comfort level. You will have opportunities to develop your skills in public health whether youre just starting out or bringing prior clinical experience.

Following a direct protocol policy or procedure or order from a licensed provider provides technical support to professional medical and nursing staff. Duties consist of the following routine clinical tasks: collection of laboratory specimens performing adult venipuncture and adult and pediatric capillary sticks and performing clinical laboratory tests to include hemoglobin hematocrit glucose urine pregnancy fecal occult blood sedimentation rate and urine dipsticks. Sterilizes instruments inventories and orders supplies maintains logs files and records collects clinical data and compiles statistics. Works under the supervision of a licensed provider. Evidence of specific training in performing specialized duties and functions based on area of assignment is required.

Minimum Qualifications

Ability to perform Healthcare Technician duties in a clinical setting such as preparing patients for examination obtaining vital signs assisting provider during exams and routine stocking and cleaning of clinical area
Ability to complete patient labs as needed; ability to perform clerical activities including greeting patients scheduling appointments filing documents and using computers
Ability to multi-task and organize work to complete assignments as the daily workload changes
General knowledge of counseling principles and methods
Ability to document accurately and timely and submit necessary reports
Required to maintain a valid drivers license and adhere to VDHs driver safety policies

Additional Considerations

Experience as a Nursing Assistant and/or Healthcare Technician in an outpatient clinical setting and/or public health a plus
Certified as a Nursing Assistant
Bilingual in Spanish
