Primary Responsibilities
- Assist the QHSEE Team Leader in maintaining the Chemistry Laboratorys Quality Management System (QMS) and ensuring compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 customer requirements legal standards and corporate policies.
- Support the management and control of Chemistryrelated QMS documentation ensuring availability accuracy and controlled access.
- Oversee and track Chemistry laboratory participation in Proficiency Testing (PT) and Interlaboratory Comparisons (ILCs).
- Conduct internal audits spot checks and followups focusing on chemical testing processes; ensure timely closure of NCRs.
- Support customer complaint investigations nonconformity analysis and rootcause determinations involving Chemistry testing.
- Ensure compliance with QHSEE policies Group and national safety requirements waste management rules and emergency response guidelines.
Specific Responsibilities
- Monitor quality risks related to chemistry testing (e.g. method validation measurement uncertainty equipment performance data integrity).
- Drive preventive and corrective actions to minimize nonconformities and repeat findings.
- Analyze quality indicators (nonconformities OOS retests complaints audit findings) and recommend system improvements.
- Support laboratory efficiency and reliability by embedding quality into daily operations.
- Participate in method verification/validation document review and QC trend evaluations.
- Ensures that customers confidentiality and proprietary rights are held secure and protected.
- Participate in safety inspections risk assessments incident investigations and waste management.
- One of the Approving Authority for documents before use.
- Recommend Chemistry-related procedure updates and QMS improvements.
- Maintain records of all QHSEE activities including inspections training and incidents and prepare reports for Management Review.
- Initiate the investigation of customer complaints and other related non-conformities to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for QHSEE-related inquiries from regulatory agencies customers and internal stakeholders.
- Decision-making on routine function of conducting internal quality audit and on issuance and closing out of NCRs.
- Support quality-related training for analysts supervisors and technical managers.
- Drafts or modifies quality procedures related to QHSE.
- Acts upon Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) lodged in relation to his/her area of responsibility.
- Recommendatory authority on QHSE related issues.
- Operating to the highest standards of ethics in accordance with the SGS Code of Integrity.
- Assists in overseeing the validity of certificates and completion of reports associated with all the certifications and accreditations of the testing laboratories.
- Assists in monitoring and ensuring that all sections of the laboratory participated in the scheduled Proficiency program.
- Coordinates the results of the Customer Satisfaction Survey and IQA results with all other sections of the laboratory.
- Acts as understudy of the QHSEE Manager in quality-related matters and handles urgent matters related to Environment Health and Safety in the absence of the QHSEE Team Leader.
- Recommendatory authority on matters related to resolutions involving laboratory quality procedures.
- Operating to the highest standards of ethics in accordance with the SGS Code of Integrity.
- Complies with the Quality Health and Safety Environment and Energy (QHSEE) policies and supporting objectives including but not limited to:
oDemonstrates strong commitment to SGS QHSEE policies procedures and work instructions by actively participating in meetings projects and events completes required training intervenes in unsafe situations refuses unsafe work and complies fully with all applicable laws and regulations related to HSEE. - Acts appropriately and immediately to emergency situations and assists other staff members in maintaining readiness to act to emergencies within the workplace.
- Disposes or directs the disposal of waste generated as a part of daily work performed in a safe manner and in compliance with the disposal regulations and requirements and in accordance with SGS Environmental Management System requirements.
- Reports all incidents including near misses and hazards that may affect the achievement of QHSEE objectives in accordance with SGS Incident Reporting and Management requirements.
- Efficiently uses all equipment including safety equipment and company owned property in the manner intended and reports any damaged / lost equipment to immediate superior.
- Maintains a safe and tidy worksite according to the organizations 5S program and guidelines.
- Maintains awareness of the safety and health related hazards and environmental aspects and proposes action plans to control the risks to immediate superior.
- Actively participates in incident investigations and risk assessments as deemed necessary by SGS management.
- Fulfills the requirements needed in the success of the QHSEE Management System.
- Recognizes the potential consequences of not following the established policies procedures and guidelines including not fulfilling the organizations compliance obligations.
Qualifications :
- Education: College graduate (BS Chemistry Environmental Science Chemical Engineering or any science-related course) with professional license depending on the course taken.
- Experience: 3-5 years in QA or QC work or 1-2 years supervisory or related experience in Lab environment.
- Licensed Chemist.
- Knowledgeable in ISO 17025.
