Job Summary

Summary/Objective

The Banquet Captain is responsible for supervising all phases of the banquet functions. The Banquet
Captain should also oversee the banquet event and ensure that all service standards departmental policies
and instructions are followed by banquet staff.

Essential Functions

  • Adhere to all standard operating procedures and property specific brand standards.
  • Perform any other duties as requested by management to aid in better operation of the hotel and service to the guests.
  • Complies with all food safety and sanitation standards and regulations.
  • Approach all encounters with guests and team members in a friendly service-oriented manner.
  • Maintain high standards of appearance and grooming which include wearing a correct name tag when working.
  • Responsible for the proper usage and good working order of all equipment furniture and fixtures in the Banquet and Catering Section in the shift assigned.
  • Responsible for consistently implementing the service standards and operating procedures in the banquet and Catering service.
  • Provide excellent customer service and ensure customer needs are met at all times.
  • Guide the Banquet Houseperson/Servers in set up of tables and place settings while following labor guidelines.
  • Be familiar with all current and upcoming event details.
  • Assist the General Manager and/or Executive Chef with scheduling training and performance management.

  • Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly both oral and written.
  • Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.
  • Work as a team.
  • Ability to correctly read and interpret a Banquet Event Order

Physical Demands

  • Long early morning and/or late evening hours required.
  • High standards of appearance.
  • Medium work-exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or 30 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift carry push pull or otherwise move objects.
  • Ability to be on your feet throughout the entire shift.
