Role Summary:

Do you want to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our Card Inbound Payments platform ensuring a secure and seamless experience for our customers Capital One is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Manager to lead project management with a focus on risk mitigation and control this role you will be at the intersection of operations product and technology driving initiatives that enhance our platforms security compliance and overall customer experience.

You will lead a team responsible for leading key initiatives partnering closely with Risk Product and Technology teams to design implement and maintain robust controls across the Payments ecosystem. This is an opportunity to make a significant impact by fostering a strong risk culture ensuring regulatory adherence and contributing to the evolution of our payment solutions.

This Senior Manager will lead a team of at least 3 associates and will be pivotal in several key objectives:

  • Lead a team of project managers providing guidance mentorship and fostering a collaborative environment focused on delivering secure and compliant payment solutions.

  • Partner with Risk Management to identify assess and mitigate potential risks within the Card Inbound Payments platform.

  • Collaborate with Product Management and Technology teams to integrate effective controls into the design and development of new and existing payment features.

  • Oversee the project management lifecycle for control-related initiatives ensuring timely execution clear communication and adherence to quality standards.

  • Drive the implementation of preventive controls to minimize risk events and improve operational efficiency.

  • Manage projects related to payment modernization efforts ensuring seamless transitions robust control coverage and minimal customer impact.

  • Ensure projects comply with regulatory requirements and internal policies maintaining a strong focus on compliance.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across various departments including Risk Product Technology Operations Legal and Compliance.

  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and project metrics to track progress identify potential issues and implement corrective actions.

  • Champion a culture of risk awareness and proactive problem-solving within the team and across stakeholder groups.

We are seeking a leader with a strong understanding of payment processing risk management and control frameworks. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional project management skills a collaborative mindset and the ability to effectively communicate and influence across diverse teams. A passion for delivering secure reliable and customer-centric payment experiences is essential.

Ideal Candidate Would Have:

  • Experience in the financial services industry with a focus on payment operations risk management or compliance.

  • A strong understanding of payment processing including relevant technologies and industry standards.

  • Experience in designing implementing and monitoring controls within a complex operational environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with Risk Product and Technology teams.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree or military experience

  • At least 4 years of Project Management experience

  • At least 3 years of experience supporting partnering or interacting with internal business clients

  • At least 2 years of People Management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree or MBA

  • 5 years of Project Management experience

  • 5 years of experience with project management platforms (JIRA MS Project Confluence)

  • 4 years of experience supporting partnering or interacting with internal business clients

  • 3 years of People Management experience

  • Lean Agile Six Sigma or Business Process Management

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

McLean VA: $177700 - $202800 for Sr Manager Project Management


Richmond VA: $161500 - $184300 for Sr Manager Project Management










Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidates offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
