About the position
A ship management company operating across all types of vessels and offering a comprehensive range of services from technical management to QHSE including crew management is currently seeking an HSEQ Manager to join its team.
This commitment is demonstrated through :
- The continuous communication to all personnel both ashore and shipboard of Ship Operations Safety and Environmental Protection Policy and the importance of meeting statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Establishing Companys policies.
- Ensuring that safety security and environmental objectives are established and maintained.
- Conducting management reviews and ensuring agreed actions are completed as required.
- Ensuring the availability of resources.
- Informing the Owner any items that have a significant impact on safety security or prevention of pollution including compliance with rules and regulations that cannot be effectively resolved by the Company.
- Ensuring full support to each Master and DPA in order to achieve to Companys policy objectives and requirements of the ISM and ISPS code.
- Ensuring that the owner has reported the details of the entity responsible for the ISM operation of the vessel to the administration.
HSEQ Manager will also cover roles of COM DPA CSO and MCO
Company Operations Manager
- ISM & Safety Manager.
- Establishing and controlling of the company Safety Management System (SMS).
- Liaising with flag administration.
- Monitoring of Maritime regulations and adapt procedures as needed to comply to new regulations.
- Ensuring company and managed vessels are aware of latest legislation concerning the Company and vessel.
- Carrying out controls on Shore-Based Management.
- Maintaining and reviewing the company SMS manual and shore based contingency plan.
- Supports Emergency response capability.
- Ensures that the shore personnel is taught about ISM and ISPS aspects.
Vessel Operations Aspects:
- Day to day communications with managed vessels and Shore-Based Management.
- Masters appraisal on a yearly basis
- Monitors crew evaluation is performed at least once / year for each crew working more than 2 months on board.
Safety & Environmental Aspects:
- Promotes the Companys quality health safety environment and security policy and ensures its proper implementation.
- Identify best practices and lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce work process risks raise safety awareness and improve safe working practices.
- Facilitates a work environment that supports a safe secured and healthy culture.
- Conducts or coordinate training in areas such as safety and security laws and regulations hazardous condition monitoring and use of safety equipment.
- Monitors security arrangements as they affect the Company put in place such arrangements as may be necessary to address any security issue.
- Performs safety and security audits and inspect facilities machinery and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards and to ensure safety & security regulations compliance.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Designated Person Ashore (DPA)
- Ensures that the Companys SMS effectively implemented and maintained.
- Ensures that the personnel is taught about ISM aspects.
- The DPA liaise with the vessels master and the ships department heads daily for safety issues and ISM purpose.
- Safety & Environmental Aspects:
- Monitors the safety and pollution-prevention aspects of the operation of each ship ensuring that adequate resources and shore-based support are available.
- Performs safety and security audits and inspect facilities machinery and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards and to ensure safety & security regulations compliance.
- Investigates accidents near-miss incidents and occupational injuries to determine causes put corrective actions in place and follow up.
- Provides technical advice coaching guidance and mentoring to employees on safety initiatives and necessary changes Orders and maintains facility safety inventory including supplies and equipment.
Company Security Officer (CSO)
- Main Responsibilities:
- Ensures that the ships security Plans are effectively implemented and maintained
- Ensures that the personnel is taught about ISPS aspects.
- Main Duties and responsibilities as stated in each vessels security Plan.
- Ensures that security doesnt conflict with safety.
MLC Company Officer (MCO)
- Main Responsibilities:
- Ensures that safety and health aspects from the MLC 2006 are implemented in the company and on-board managed vessels.
